Idiotic Blades fans

Said many times before - loads of fucking idiots watch United and success on the pitch seems to bring a lot more out.

A smoke bomb got thrown last year at Barnsley away by some at the back of the stand and it hit a bloke on the back and burnt a hole in his jacket.

It honestly almost puts me off going the amount of twats you have to put up with at away matches.

Agree with so much of what you say young 'un, it also explains why I go to so few games. My mobility has worsened over the last 18 months, thus the thought of a bunch of mindless, even selfish, oafs pushing me and causing me to stumble, possibly falling and damaging my legs, isn't an option I feel I can gamble with. By all means celebrate when the Blades score or win, but the notion of respecting those around you seems to have vanished, and now belongs to some antiquated concept of being pleasant and mindful of the welfare of those around you. What we now have is a mindset that thinks no farther than 'having a laugh' simply because the alternative is dreary and, dare I say it, civilised.

I'd be quite content if anyone, young or old, who considered behaviour that could harm others to be in anyway acceptable, might face prosecution, even to the extent of being banned, and that they'd have brought this upon themselves. But I guess this would be asking too much, and would spoil their afternoon of idiotic behaviour.

Nice one A.

Clearly some aren't au fait with CHL's posting style over many years :)

There seems to be a real difference between Saturday and midweek away fans. I noticed at Bristol how much more enjoyable it was without the lagered up lads goading stewards all game and trying to get on the pitch after a goal.
Hopefully Oxford and Swindon will be similar. What is it with fans trying to get on the pitch now? I thought it was a lifetime ban but it can't be, otherwise with 4 or 5 ejections every game we'd be finding tickets a lot easier to come by.

Millwall this season which was on a Saturday seemed to be OK.
I wounder why ?

Have to agree about the look at me on Facebook with my stone island top and can of fosters in my hand brigade. I'm early 30's so I'd look ridiculous doing anything like that although I do like to tag myself into away grounds or the pubs close by more for future reference to look back on as Facebook will become a "memory bank" years down the line as it's already becoming.

Ditto mate. I was tagged in a couple of pubs yesterday by friends for the same reason.

Despite times moving on, and me being a fan and sporter of 80s casual clobber (actually in the 80s and 90s), I could never envisage me in my younger days wanting to publicly display pics to the world looking like a tuppenny hardnut.

And another thing; smoking in the toilets. It's congested enough in the toilets at half-time without people turning it into a makeshift smoking area. Lung-cancer city.
Trouble is the stewards or police are too afraid to actually go and deal with any of it for fear of causing some sort of riot. They seem to think just because you've come to support the same team you are all the same.
The second loud bomb thing went off in Block O. It seemed to explode somewhere near a lad about 14 to 16? with glasses who was wearing a faun coloured jacket and he was clearly distressed and shook up. I think he may have been with his Mum?
We went in the Dale club before the game and I remarked to my Missus that it was how football should be, fans from 5 to 80 years old, all generations together having a good time and mixed with supporters of the other club. Then that crap in the ground!
The smoking issue is another point. Some Blades fans were talking to the police about it, just at the top of the gangway from where the toilets were. in other words less than ten metres from the toilets. they kept asking them to deal with it and they would not get involved. if they cannot go with out a fag or other for 2 hours then they should not go. I'm sure they manage it whilst going on their holidays.
Maybe it is time all of these anti social acts we all start filming to get these toss pots banned.
dronny_blade, hope the lad is ok.

We were sat near smoke bomb and fire crackers. My kids were scared and wanted to leave after 2nd goal. I'm seriously considering if it's worth bothering with any more away games. This happens at every away game now. This is the worst atmosphere I've seen in 35 years of following united away. Not satisfied with standing all game and the flares and the fire crackers you now get grown men standing on the seats to block everyone's view and the gangways are always rammed with more pissed up twats who can't even be arsed to find a seat....

I honestly think it's a sign of the times in the country as a whole. Reduction in the amount of coppers but when you do report anything usually sweet FA will be done about it. Scroats, rat boys and feral shits doing what they want knowing the punishment if caught will be next to nothing. Judges so out of touch with the real world. By the way these 'hard men' would have shit their pants if they had been conscripted into the army and sent to Iraq and Afghanistan. Those lads and lasses who served over in those shitholes are the real 'hard men' in my book.

Nice one A.

Rise up you sleeping oldies, take the young and let them know they cross lines at their peril, and should that not work......then clip the cunt on the chin and headbutt for England, Harry, Woody, and Wilder.......should the accusation of hypocrisy rear it's head, remind those who speak such tosh that all we ever requested was a life of quiet.

Away games generally tend to attract some of the worst wretches imaginable. I always have the feeling that violence is just bubbling under the surface, especially if we lose. I find rivalries and 'banter' all a bit uneasy because it seems as though too many football fans don't have the emotional maturity to see them for what they are - part of the fun. That's literally it, nothing more.

You end up seeing so much genuine hatred at matches. It's all a bit horrible and ugly really, and tribalism-based banter too often ends in hideous and needless situations like the one highlighted by the OP.

Have to agree 100% with ljk here. After our first goal at Rochdale and the idiots invading the pitch, one of our 'finest', and he wasnt a kid, more like a 40/50 year old tattooed fuckwit. was nose to nose with a steward and snarling 'back off cunt' to him!!!
Very horrible, very ugly and totally unnecessary .
As for police and stewards not doing anything about the over the top inconsiderate oafish behaviour under the stands at half time, in my opinion they dont get paid enough to try and diffuse such behaviour. If the behaviour of the 200/300 bellends had been attempted to be stopped by the 10/20 police/stewards it would have only ended up in one way. Which would only have made the bellends even more hero s in their own sad deluded inferior minds.
Rochdale was a new low following the Blades for me. it will certainly make me think about when and where I go away again.

Wait till Oldham away . We've got 1200 more tickets to sell for that one .

I sincerely hope my letter to the Chief Constable of Oldham has the desired effect .

We need to take back control of our Stands before its too late .

Here is a radical idea, how's about confronting them face to face and stop whinging about it on here......You whine about the BBC but at least back in the day them lads sorted the young uns out.

This is forward thinking. Even the Yanks are doing football better than us now.

Smoke devices and safe standing in England ? Unlikely .

Smoke devices and safe standing in South Yorkshire ? Highly unlikely .

Smoke devices and safe standing in Sheffield ? Hahaha hahaha .

Sadly you're right.

Football clubs and relevent authorities are encouraging positive terrace culture across the globe. Over here it's a big no no.

Then again, on the flipside, if English fans were given any such freedom they'd fuck it all up and abuse it anyway.

And good for them.

Americans are generally loud and obnoxious but like Germans they know how to drink at sporting events without being complete cunts

In England we don't have such joys. As this thread and many others, plus nights out in every town and city of this country prove.

Is it James Anderton the ChiefConstable?

We're better behaved than we used to be, perhaps because of restrictions imposed since Hillsborough, but there will always be incidents waiting to happen and issues on terraces.

We have hundreds of stewards police and CCTV at every football ground but we have had people openly smoking weed on the kop, taking coke in toilets of away game, bringing pyro into games and we still don't catch them when they're in allocated seats...

I watched 2nd div Union Berlin 5-6 years ago and stood on the terrace, drinking beer. It was great. But the atmosphere was very different to England

Agreed .

We also need to factor the " SYP " influence into the equation here aswell .

It's no coincidence that since the Hillsborough verdicts were returned segregation has become a fucking joke in Sheffield at BOTH clubs .

Door .... horse ..... stable ..... bolted

I used to heavily criticise the attitude in this country towards football supporters and what modern football has done to sanitise the game, and I still do.

But in time I've realised that this was a monster created by dickhead football fans themselves over the decades. And as you rightly point out, it's the same thing with the nightlife in England of a weekend.

It just seems to be part of the national mentality to veer towards destructive and cuntish behaviour.

As Clubs have a duty of care over the fans who attend matches, should they not step up to the plate to help curb the loutish and dangerous behavior? Why not use the CCTV images they already have to identify and bar thugs and idiots. They could also issue membership cards that would be shown when purchasing tickets. One "mis-demeanor" and the membership could be revoked, effectively banning them from further matches.

I thought you'd gone all retro on me there TD.

You sounded like Dukinfield on the 16th of April 1989 .
