Winning The League

Exactly Ricky I have never seen us win any league we are in no position to be picky winning any league would be great to see after so many years of underachievement.
 



As It now looks like Fleetwood are on a great run is it not time for the BBC or Sky to visit them and do a piece on their rags to riches story.
That will stuff their winning run for sure. Oh and give them Manager of the Month.

Fleetwood have an extremely favourable run in too.
 
I can't see us winning anything else in my lifetime, so.... Champions please
 
5 point lead is as good as 6 really , when to get past a 5 point lead means the chaser still has to win 2 to overtake us
a win and a draws no good
means if we win 9 we cant be overtaken
but fleetwood have to win all 11 to beat us winning 8
 
When you look back , the last time we went up , we went up from the second in 2nd place but only on goal difference , so winning it wasnt that far off

Would love to see us win it to be fair. In fact, I'd be really disappointed if we didn't now. Especially to fucking Fleetwood.
 
Nothing bad ever happens to Fleetwood. In the time since we last won promotion they've gone up - what is it - 5 times? I expect them to romp to the League title.

a 5 point lead isn't as good as a 6 point lead because a 6 point lead needs 7 points to overtake...
a 5 point lead can be caught with 5 points...

If Fleetwood and us win more than 6 games then we're going to be have exceeded the win ratio for the rest of the season by quite a bit. For 8 wins you're talking a 16% improvement in win percentage for us and a 22% improvement for Fleetwood.

I reckon we'll both end up with 6 wins

obviously , but from the point of view of the chaser , ie fleetwood it uses up 2 of their remaining fixtures to catch us
which covers my point
their win ratio has to be so much higher than ours to catch us
and games are disappearing fast

I get what you're saying and i'm having a bit of fun, but lets not over complicate it. How about simplifying it and saying fleetwood need to get more points than us to win the league...

Its a cliche, but we really need to stop worrying about others each time we draw or the opposition get a win.

We have won approx 57% of our games, Fleetwood 51%. Could that change? Possibly. Is it likely to result in an end of season slump for us? Very unlikely if the rest of the season is to go by.

We have played Bolton, Scunny and Fleetwood twice and we have to play both Millwall and Bradford at home. We've got a run in which, as usual will be unpredictable as we're playing sides pushing for play offs or to stay up. Very few sides have nothing to play for.

well some at the bottom if we get in front in a game dont think Ive seen a team capable of clawing back against us
its no defeats in 16 games v bottom half teams so far with 8 to go , which I cant see us losing any , might draw 2/3 at worst of what Ive seen
 
Win it?

I want us to go on a run now and bloody SMASH it! It's the least we deserve after recent years. Yes I'd settle for auto-promotion as we all would, but quite frankly, a valiant but ultimately fruitless effort to bester Fleetwood or Scunny would disappoint me from where we are right now.

We've settled for second best at this club far too long. Fortunately unlike some of his predecessors, I suspect that Chris Wilder feels exactly the same. UTB.

Agree Gray,love us to win it,but if we have to settle for sloppy seconds then I'd take it.
 
Champions is merely a cherry on top. Let's just get promoted.

In fairness, a lot of us remember and care about when we won the 4th division, and we couldnt have celebrated more if it had been the 1st.

I suspect that some Blades might be using 'not that bothered' as a bit of self-protection get out clause in case we don't win it, but deep down they'd LUV it. ;)

I remember you saying the last home game of that season was an anti climax because we lost and that the lap of honour after the match wasn't as well received as it should have been?
 
It is important to win the league. It is about time we won something.

1st priority, to go up (automatic)
2nd priority, to win the league

P.S. I see that the latest odds have got us 1/41 to go up!
And we're 2/13 to win the league (with Fleetwood at 14/1).
