Nigel Clough was no bullshit, no nonsense and said it like it was.

We like Chris Wilder because he wins football matches.
I think that's partly why some of our players took to Wilder very quickly. They were Clough's players, used to a no bullshit style of management. CW is like Clough but better.

Was in a meeting first thing this morning with a colleague who is a Bradford season ticket holder. Being very constructive meeting, played them the interview from Parkinson after last nights game. They said they couldn't believe that was Parkinson talking. He never moaned and found excuses like that at Bradford and was never that negative. Must be under major pressure.

It's amazing what pressure can do. I suppose it's the same for managers when they come to us (as a L1 club). We're expected to go up, no excuses.

The football under Clough was very similiar to Wednesday this season.

We started matches slowly and tended to concentrate on controlling matches by keeping possession, lots of side ways passing. Played OK but no pace or urgnency and not many chances at either end.

Clough (like Carvahal) was probably too tactical and always seem to concentrate on nullifying the oppostion.
When we played tough matches or against higher oppostion in the cup then Clough was very good.
(He's suited for being manager of Burton being the underdogs every match with no expectation) but being a manager of a club expected to take the game to the oppostion he was found wanting.

Adkins had a similar style but never knew his best team and was too positive.
Don't think he gave the players stick when they had bad games, they had an easy ride and let their standards slip due to Adkins softly, softly approach.

just been looking on boltons forum about their game with bristol rovers they were shitting themselves when they were 1-0 up and weren't surprised at 1-1, they hope spearing is back for saturday seems to be their (if only good) best player

I love how people still think Scunny are a little club. They've probably got one of the biggest budgest in the division, as illustrated by CW and their support

They have money as Chris said last week but they've not suddenly turned into a bigger club because of it.Just my view, but I would say they are on the smaller end of the League One spectrum. I work in Grimsby and I can definitely say that Grimsby are a much bigger club and they usually pull in crowds of over 5,000, where as Scunthorpe barely do that in League One. They got 3,300 last night for example.

We have seen in the 6 years in this league that size has no bearing on league position. If the league standings were based on such things we'd be around 15th-20th in the Premier League.

I for one don't want Scunthorpe to go up. Their mediocre midfielder Bishop has a daft wife who keeps trying to undermine us on social media with silly remarks about 'bottlers'.

Gone quiet now, the silly bish. Hope they sink without trace.

True. I was just saying originally that I think what Scunthorpe have done this season is impressive, even with a bigger budget than most in this league. I'd more rather them go up over Bolton.

She is just a bit of a tool really and just shows herself up. Its like bragging about going one nil up in a game and then go onto lose 3 - 1! I leaned to not do that in my early twenties and she's clearly new to football. Still, I have no problem with Scunny as a club.

She's just trying to keep herself in the public eye.

No problem at all with Scunny. In fact hope they go up in second.
Quite like Alexander having met him a few times, is a good manager and very good with young players too.

Would certainly rather they go up over any other side in second.

Surely being a Scunthorpe WAG is akin to saying you work in fashion but actually earn minimum wage on the George concession at Asda?

just done to show the goal highlights of them popping in before kick off
can pass it off as shots on goal
Love how they spend all that time playing one touch football and shooting practise and then when real game kicks off they spend 90 minutes hoofing it and have one shot at goal.

Both scunny and bolton have got the jitters really bad
they are going on the pitch and beating themselves
part of the confidence about us going up is the shambolic performances from the rest , Fleetwood apart
and Fleetwoods run will end sooner rather than later
theyve been on a run like wednesday had when things fell nicely for them

Personally i'd like fleetwood to finish second out of all the challengers, I like Rosler as a manager, no rich benefactor and they have been the only one out of the three to give us a game at Bramall Lane.
I thought Alexanders comments after their visit here also reaked of sour grapes.

Just had this pop up on my youtube suggestions, Can you spot the obvious edit at 0.39 mid team walking into the dressing room.
Can only imagine why it was cut... ;)

Aren't players nowadays interested in the history of the game? Disappointed to see that not one of them stopped to check out the names in our corridor of honour...

It's more akin to saying you work in personnel management when your actual job is a fluffer on a cheap bongo flick.

Basically she has premature ejaculation?

I think she is quite funny. What's the harm in a bit of banter. Chill out people

Not 100% sure but I think Fleetwood do have a rich benefactor.

Fleetwood are the smallest club in league 1 with the smallest income but i believe they are mid table when it comes to player budgets. Scunthorpe are another one that have amongst the smallest gates and income but their rich owner is planning to build a new stadium and also they are near the top when it's comes to player budgets.

Andrew Pilley is their owner and he is fairly wealthy by the sounds of it.....but from an interview i've read he's making the club stand on their own two feet so they don't rely on external investment.
He's spent 10 million in total on new stands and offices / infrastructure etc over the past 7 years so they have their own income stream to bring money in.

Should have bought a Desso

The Fleetwood fella runs his business from the Fleetwood stadium. Behind their "kop" is a row of offices where the telesales lot sit.
There are advertising signs all over the ground for BES Utilities, which is his empire.
He just sounds like anothe McCabe, but (for now) on a lower scale.
Good luck to him and Fleetwood.
Would be nice to have Burton (we owe Clough) and Fleetwood up next season.
If another smallish club could come up too, it just might make our task of staying in the Championship a little bit easier

UTB

Parkinson was hours away from getting the job when it was given to Wilson instead. His assistant ,Steve Parkin ,lives on our estate ,his daughter is good friends with Sitwell jnr
