By the way Chriswilderistheman you forgot to leave me your phone number

Be even better if he could match Ched's 35 goal tally that he got for us but that is being a bit too optimistic!

It doesn't really matter but I want him to out score ched in "that" season.

It's a good job Billy's scoring at the rate he is because as it stands Lavery, Clarke and Done have 6 league goals between them which is absolutely shocking. Although I do think Lavery and Clarke would've scored a few if played more regularly.

Who was the last player in League 1 to score 30 league goals in a single season?

The so called £10m, penalty missing grunter...........in the same season that Chedwyn got 29 league goals for us....

Before that Rickie Lambert (30) in 2009/2010 but doesn't happen that often......usually a scorer with 25,26,27 goals however.

Nobody has achieved 30 goals or more since Jordan Rhodes.

Got me thinking, who is the all time leading league 1 scorer?

I can't think of a player who'd be ahead of Billy.

So wanted him to get a hat trick on Saturday. Hope he gets more than anyone in the Leagues and more than Ched did for us.

If you're thinking all-time third tier, Steve Bull has got to be up there. He got 50+ the season we got promoted back in 1988-89 although I don't know if they were all in the league. Billy is going to have to go some to hit 50.

Too right. This season (and last), we've been frighteningly dependent on Billy's goals.

Let's imagine he gets 30 goals this season - highly likely imo. What if a club comes in for him in summer with a big offer? Would you sell him?

Bull scored 37 in the league that season. He got to 50 with cup goals (including 11 in what is now the Checktrade Trophy).

The record for a single season in the third tier since a 4 division structure was adopted in 1958 is 39 by Derek Reeves of Southampton in 1960. If you include divisions 3 North and South, the record is 55, shared by Joe Payne and Ted Harston, who both did it in 1937.

Other levels:

Division 1/PL: Dixie Dean, Everton, 60 in 1928
2nd tier: George Camsell, Middlesbrough, 59 in 1927
4th tier: Terry Bly, Peterborough, 52 in 1961

I hope billy will get to 30 goal this season . He only need 5 more to get 200 league goals .

He needs 5 for 200 career goals, not league goals. He has 184 league goals at present.

The only current players I can think of with more English league goals are Rickie Lambert (218 league goals), Wayne Rooney (195 league goals) and Jermain Defoe (186 league goals, plus 11 in MLS). There may be others who have more but no one jumps to mind. Darren Bent is pretty close behind on 176.

Very interesting and well worth 5 minutes of anybody's time.

The highest rated player in that list that I've seen live is John Aldridge at no. 9, Shearer at 23, then the likes of Ken Wagstaff and Pop Robson before you get to players of the Premier League era.

Plenty of Blade interest too with Keith Edwards, Bob Hatton, Dean Windass and to a much much much lesser extent, big-nose-Rush.

Hopefully Billy will not only make the list but still have a 3-4 years to make some decent inroads. He might just struggle to catch Arthur Rowley's 433 goals though.
