hope I am not putting the kiss of death on it but I really believe that he will get to 35. The number of chances we are creating and the form he is in tells me a goal a game until the end of the season isn't beyond reach

Very interesting and well worth 5 minutes of anybody's time.

The highest rated player in that list that I've seen live is John Aldridge at no. 9, Shearer at 23, then the likes of Ken Wagstaff and Pop Robson before you get to players of the Premier League era.

Plenty of Blade interest too with Keith Edwards, Bob Hatton, Dean Windass and to a much much much lesser extent, big-nose-Rush.

Hopefully Billy will not only make the list but still have a 3-4 years to make some decent inroads. He might just struggle to catch Arthur Rowley's 433 goals though.

The highest former Blades player is Harry Johnson, who is both United and Mansfield's all time top scorer, which I think is unique - no one else holds 2 records.

Aldridge is the highest for me too, though I suspect there are a number of posters who saw Jimmy Greaves. Rowley was largely in the lower divisions later in his career.

Ooops, shame on me as I totally missed our all time leading scorer! My only excuse, is that I didn't expect to see a United player that far up, but that is a pathetic way of trying to wriggle off the hook.

Call myself a Blade? Obviously not.

I'll slink off now to hide for a while.............

He needs 5 for 200 career goals, not league goals. He has 184 league goals at present.

The only current players I can think of with more English league goals are Rickie Lambert (218 league goals), Wayne Rooney (195 league goals) and Jermain Defoe (186 league goals, plus 11 in MLS). There may be others who have more but no one jumps to mind. Darren Bent is pretty close behind on 176.

Jordan Rhodes is up there with around 175 I think.

I think Billy will finish on 32 goals this season.
The worry is who's going to score if he gets injured?
He's scored ALL our goals in the last 4 games.

Another 'ex-blade' on that list is Arthur Rowley, well he managed us for a season. Apparently though he was more interested in betting on the nags than managing us. Fair play to him though, he signed some decent players; Hemsley, Colquhoun, Powell and I think Tudor as well.
