Ok I 'think' its a safe bet that we will at least finish in the top six so you'll excuse me under these circumstances to ask this question, though of course none of us want to go down this avenue and I hope this thread does become redundant....
A lot can change over the last part of the season but I think its fair to say we could get two of:
Southend: W1 L2 D1 since 2015
Bradford: W2 D3 since 2014
Millwall: L3 since 2015
Rochdale: W3 L1 D1 since 2014
Peterborough: W3 L2 since 2015
Oxford: W1 from 2016
Bristol Rovers: W1 D1 from 2016
Walsall: W1, L2, D2 since 2015
Get past them and we'd likely face on of the following in the final:
Scunthorpe: W2, D3, L1 since 2015
Bolton: L1 in 2016, not including recent cup game as that was weakened side
Fleetwood: W1, D2, L2 since 2015
Looking at previous records isn't perfect but gives as indication of how we might perform against these possible opponents.
Out of all those we'd most likely prefer Rochdale and want to avoid Millwall like the plague on that basis. Obviously the higher up they are the harder the games but our records against nearly all of these sides are not impressive.
Add in the psychological factor of disappointment of just missing out on the top two, which we've suffered many times previously, then there is not much cause for optimism of our chances (despite the new regime) going into these potential matches.
The more I look at it and the more I shudder and hope we avoid this torture...
