i've just done a stupid thing. Decided to stay over after the Oxford game, so got the ground post code and booked a room on Airbnb. It was less than a mile to the ground, so I said to Mrs NYB, we may as well walk to the ground and leave the car in the drive. So far so good.
I then looked at the facilities near the ground, looking at somewhere to eat before the game. Funny, ground looked a bit small. What's the capacity? Two thousand? Uh oh. I've only got us a room near Oxford City fc. Still never mind, the six mile walk to the ground will keep us fit. Now, how do I break it yo Mrs NYB? :) :)

Obviously! Just trying to take the mick out of myself.

Splendid.

When I take the 'mick' I charge a £1000 min...

My main concern though, will you be both going on the 'Morse Tour' .... stay well clear, it's all about murder and death and there's some ex-Geordie builder constantly rabbiting on about his time at the local University.

Bring three points back and I hope you both have a fantastic stay.

Think the ground is right on the edge of a rough old estate is it not? So will probably turn out for the best.

Isn't Crouchy based in Oxford? Might give you a few tips.

You're staying in a slightly nicer part of town than the area by the Kassam (Blackbird Leys) but it's hugely inconvenient for getting to and from the game. There are buses but you'll need at least two to get to and from the place. I'd get cabs if I were you. That's what I'll be doing. The pub pick up bus only runs on Saturdays I think.

If you drive you might be able to park for a midweek evening game. The OUFC website is fairly optimistic about your chances.

Thanks for that. We will probably drive, for the convenience.

That's nothing.

I've booked a hotel in Sheffield right next to a football ground for two nights and there isn't even a bloody game on.

Bloody Coventry

Well at least you didn't book near that other Sheffield shit hole. No, that's silly. No one would be that stupid. :)

Errr, yes they would NYB!
I was chatting to an away supporter before a night match in the Railway last season telling us his wife kindly booked a B&B for him right next to the ground on.....Penistone Road.
He came on the train and didn't realize the problem until his taxi dropped him off and he had to get straight back in it back to BDTBL and then back to the B&B after the match!

Many years ago went to Port vale for a night match . Running late , spotted the floodlights and made it before kick off ... to burslem athletics stadium.
In my defence this was prior to Internet , smartphones and sat nav . You've no excuse ;)

That would be impossible if you were searching in Sheffield, as the rusty shed is in south Barnsley isn't it!!! Der!!!

Jesus it's a proper shithole as well..... just like it's neighbours. I do have it on good authority though that the curtains were last washed when big Ron was manager and the mattresses changed when big Jack was in charge..... or were they just turned?
