Championship ticket prices!

If and it is a big if we go up this season what are people's thoughts on ticket prices in the championship? The number of teams charging away fans stupid money has certainly gone up since the last time we were in the championship.

Just look across the city at what them lot are charging and it is scandalous, looking on their forum I found this little tit bit:

"If they're playing us next season I can't wait to see meltdown when they find out we'll be charging them over £40 for tickets"

They really are a set of odious bastards and have conveniently forgot about the uproar it caused when Leeds charged similar. If the price of success is to charge football fans 40 quid in the second tier of football they can keep it.

It's capped at £30 in the Premiership. Any club charging £40 in the 2nd division are cunts. Let the home fans pay through the nose for inflated wage bills and transfer budgets, we certainly don't have to fund their season.

Clubs have cottoned on that they can charge away fans £35+ in the 2nd tier and still get a decent number of away fans. I don't think the Police would like us to charge £25 because some clubs in the Championship could bring 5K and the SYP would rather deal with lower away numbers.
The problem is that home fans must also be charged £35+ for the same match.

However there is a way round it so home fans don't get punished so much. This is the system that many clubs use. As I've said I think that large away number increases policing costs so clubs charge a police tax to away fans to discourage large numbers travelling.

1: Charge £35 for category A but United could introduce a membership scheme where it's £30 to join and £10 off match day prices making it effectively £25 for home fans or

2: We could choose to charge high match day prices but offer massive discounts on season tickets.
So then it becomes a no brained that anyone who attends 50% of matches is financially better off buying a season ticket.

That's the reason why Wednesday's gates are so high, averaging 26,000 this season, it's due to having over 21,000 season ticket holders. Against Birmingham the other night there was less than 20,000 in the stadium but due to non attending season ticket holders being counted the official attendance was given as 24,805.

No that can't be true about the pigs gates they are massive. 20,000 in the ground after signing a 8 million pound striker.

I hope we reward our ST holders with a renew early at similar price type deal. We've stuck with this team through some extremely dark times. Don't bite the hand that's been feeding you for the last 6 year SUFC.

They had the children's hospital on there shirts , while at the same time not paying tax or vat ,

Not just the tickets but the 6 pound pints at some clubs and the 4.50 pies

I remember when Leeds started charging away fans extortionate prices Wednesday fans took a high moral stance and said they were boycotting Elland Road because of their rip off prices.

Now that their club is doing it...... all of a sudden most Wednesdayites think it's fine.
And many have the cheek to mock away clubs that only take 1,000 to Hillsboro.

Really disappointing and is another example of their selfish attitude.

I think this is a bit of a smoke screen regarding the " high moral ground " , my understanding of why they didn't go to Leeds was because the pigs firm , without the steel wall to hold em back .
Battered a few Leeds in Doncaster , and the pigs got wind of a warm welcome awaiting them , hence dirty strides time , bottle went , and hay ho , crocodile tears over prices , meaning we ain't going boo hoo over prices .

I'm actually quite looking forward to Rochdale and Oldham

I can't do Rochdale but am doing Oldham. I like doing the transpenine trips despite not getting to many away games nowadays, these are 2 that I've done in recent years (as well as Bolton). It's not a bad drive over and I've become partial to a post match pint of Boddingtons in the Commercial in Glossop on the way home. I was just indicating that I might replace them with the sty and the well if we go up and whilst the tickets will cost more, travel will be less so might even out a bit.

That said, I might find myself nipping across the hills if Wigan or Blackburn stay up. Then there's Preston too but I've become sick of Deepdale. I seem to have done that particular away game way more than any other.

Hopefully trips to the dirties and udders will be on the agenda too. I'd quite like Reading to go up out of the playoff teams as I'm not bothered about going back to the site of the worst pint I've ever had.

I won't be going to the sty or f***ing leeds because I hate them both and refuse to contribute any more of my hard earned to either of them. If they were only charging a tenner I still wouldn't go.
In fact last time I went to f***ing leeds, the dirty city that is, I went on a training course under protest and refused to spend any money once there. In fact I came away on top because I ate as much of the buffet as I could and pinched some bags of crisps for the train home.

They should have bit the bullet and pulled down that Leppings Lane slum/deathtrap in 1989 - its an awful experience to visit, like going back 50 years in time
