Tomorrow at Thorpe Arch 1pm KO.

Would expect to see Wilson, Reed, Scougal, Brookes, Hussey along with the young ones.

I am at the other end of the country, so anyone going that could put on how they get on would be appreciated...

Wonder who will play in net?
Wont be at the game tomorrow so nothing from me on the game. No bad thing I hear you say.

The better half and me are going to pop across, home game for us. Just don't expect any sort of Deadbat report. It will comprise of, we were good, they weren't, or vice versa. :)

Squad is:

Blades (from): Warhurst, Perryman, Bennett, Mallon, Wilson, Kelly, Semple, Slater, Reed, Wright, Brooks, T. Smith, Cummings, Greaves, K. Smith, Hirst.

Bit strange the likes of Long, Hussey, Scoogs, O'Shea are not playing? Maybe we're having a behind closed doors senior friendly this week?

A guess at the starting line up:

Warhurst
Wilson Semple Kelly
Bennett --------------------------- Mallon
Reed Slater
Brooks
T.Smith Wright

If they line up like that then its a good team. With Eastwood getting a knock they wont risk Long but I am surprised Scoogs and Hussey dont get a run out. Warhurst is young but hes a decent keeper, we do seem to find them.
Sorry I will miss this game

Not good enough. I want Deadbat style reporting with player ratings, comments on the opposition, the ref etc. I also want frame by frame analysis a la Bergen Blade.

I also expect to see a Roygbiv style view from the opposition fans as well.

Come on Northyorksblade get yer finger out!

Currently 2-2 (Wright, Brooks) with Leeds down to 10 men

Edit:
Teamsheet:

What's happening to my working class Blades, a Hugo and an Horatio on the team sheet. The kop will be full of public schoolboys soon singing " Your going to get your blinking bottom felt". FFS what ever happened to having a Fred or Albert in the team.;)

Well that was a very entertaining game. Really enjoyed it. Leeds were errrr, how can I put it nicely? Industrial? Some very nasty challenges. The Leeds player who got sent off for a second yellow, looked a straight red to me. The challenge on Semple looked bad. Hope he's not too badly injured. Their side looked a big strong side, but our lads showed all the skill. Some lovely link up play. Not sure who the under 23s coach us, but he never let up shouting instructions the whole game. They scored their first well against the run of play, but that seemed to gee them up and their second goal was a beauty. We soon got back into the game and not long before we scored twice to equalise. Second half was all us and we scored two GOID goals. They scored a third on the break, but really never looked like equalising. We could gave scored more.
Thought Semple played well before he went off. United players whi impressed Mallon, Wright Mark 2,Brooks and Smith. For them Purver and Denton.
Thorp Arch facilities very good, although we were turfed out of the parents room at half time.
Didn't see any players there, but Del Boy was there and had a word with us.

Saw Warhurst in the Milk Cup in Ireland in 2016 looked a decent prospect then good to see he is progressing.

I think you'll find these days any kid called Fred or Albert is actually a lot posher than most kids called shit like Hugo or Horatio. (Although, I believe our Horatio is indeed very posh).

Very good and it looks like a great game and I missed it

Went to this. Brookes, Semple and Mallon were the Blades best players. Reed and Slater made sure we dominated possession - kept it ticking over nicely. How Leeds didn't have two sent of will remain an eternal mystery. The lad who could have gone for a straight red, before committing another nailed on yellow card challenge when booked, must feel really lucky to have stayed on the pitch. 4-3 flattered Leeds. Oh yeah, young keeper did well, didn't really have much chance with goals.

Yes. It was a very good game. United were playing a system pretty much like the first team which was good to see. Sadly Leeds seemed to be trying to live up to the "Dirty Leeds" tag

As Northyorksblade said the challenge on Semple looked bad and from where I was standing it looked like a red card to me. The ref did seem very tolerant of some of the challenges early on, that is until the red mist descended following a challenge on Wright - who incidentally had a very good game I thought. Reid and Slater did the Coutts/Fleck role - with Slater covering an awful lot of ground. Brooks played well, seemed to chop and change wings and he took his goal very well.

All in all it was a good performance and all the United players appeared very comfortable on the ball.

At half time I over heard a couple of scouts saying they thought Brooks was the stand out player. I don't know that they were watching anyone in particular

When is his contract up?!

I think Brooks has the making of a really good player. Could do with a loan spell in League Two like Whiteman. Needs to add a bit of muscle but think next season he wont be far away. Hard at moment as we are in thick of a promotion race so he may go with the experience / newcomers he has brought in but Brooks cannot be far away.

Another thing about Brooks. When I've seen him nothing seems to put him off his game. And that's really important for a player like him and his prospects at first team level. If he gets tackled hard he'll get up and carry on doing the same things as before, running with the ball etc. He might be quite lightweight but he's no shrinking violet and has a bit of an edge to him.

Can any more regular U23 watchers than me back this up?
