You mean the lad who just fell down like a sack of shit all the time?

Well you if it helps you sleep better at night then you keep telling yourself that Lookman was the dogs bollocks.

So if Ramsdale was as proven amd as exciting a prospect as Lookman, can you tell me why, when we turned Everton down, only Bournemouth came knocking?

It's not about sleeping at night, it's about not spitting the dummy out over the sale of a player unlikely to play again for us anyway. Seriously, what should the club have done? Bettered Bournemouth's contract offer?

Let him go for peanuts in June?

They've given him a four and a half year deal which is a huge show of faith. I predicted on these boards that DCL would impress at Everton, and Maguire would thrive in the PL and eventually play for England (still pending).. I would be happy to predict that this kid will play in the top two divisions of English football, regularly, before these 4.5 years are over. I consider it a conservative prediction.

Yeah but we got a million and that is game changing money.

We've put very little into him, picked him up at a late age and only got him at the club due to another local club rejecting him. He's out of contract in the summer and is completely unproven in real men's football. Add to this that we're skint, absolutely penny less, face the truth and let's stop having a go at the board.

The sales of 3 youngsters DCL, Adams and Ramsdale now all this season totalling roughly £4.1 million pounds.

How much have we spent on incoming fees in comparison I wonder?

Broke even I reckon once you factor in wages, maybe a loss.

Had a quick look on the Forest & Bolton sites an hour or so ago and couldn't see anything re the Clough transfer. Not yet confirmed? Running out of time now aswell.

As I understand it, personal terms have been agreed but the fine print hasn't been ironed out yet. Hopefully I haven't been too premature.
If he does go it'll be as good for our prospects as United signing someone.

Yep. Either way you look at it it's about covering losses, there's no real net investment on the players front.

Really poor from a club this size. I wonder if we'll ever have a season where we don't sell any promising youngsters/key players AND invest heavily in incoming fees. I suspect not.

Agreed. Would have been even better had someone come in for Josh Morris from Scunny too, although if they we were wanting £8m for Van Veen it's highly unlikely they would let Morris go.

We should put clauses in every academy prospects first professional contract whereby the club have the right to keep the player for a set period of time. 5 years I'd say. Similar to a long term contract but without the financially binding nature so if we choose to release the player he's not entitled to a 5 year pay off, but that of the rest of his 1 year contract (or whatever it may be).

A sort of have your cake and eat it arrangement? Except no one in their right mind would sign such a contract

If the club have a good prospect and want to retain his services then they should offer him a long term deal and in the event they choose to release him, pay him what he's due. That is life. Unfortunately, you can't back the winning horse when the race is run ;)

So they're going to walk away from a professional footballing career and go do something else instead then? Don't see it somehow.

Ah yeah but remember we have "Game changing investment" and don't forget to "Think Liverpool".

"We won't need to sell our players"

Depends which line of bullshit you want to believe that comes out of Bramall Lane. As much as Pompey lost his marbles over the Desso pitch, you have to accept you can't believe everything the club says.

Not a bad deal at all. Perfectly comfortable with that.

The chasing pack have lost the likes of Zach Clough and Matty Taylor, now thats a reason to be pissed off. And we play both of them very soon.....

Has Zach Clough gone?

Don't worry guys!! :D

We can bring in a keeper on an emergency loan if need be. Just as long as we haven't got an experienced keeper on our books who hasn't played 5 or more games for us.

I can't imagine Scunthorpe ever being in a position to turn that sort of money down. Especially considering that they're apparently moving to a new stadium soon. Which makes the fact that they've seemingly kept hold of Morris even more baffling.

Any reliable info on the up front fee?

£1 million deal means sweet fa when much of it is on the never never.

What's the plan for when Moore get's his inevitable 3 month injury then?

Calamity George? Great.

Wonder what Wilder's statement will be, considering that it appears we haven't brought in a replacement cover GK?
He can't say Long is that man because he shifted him straight out of the first team squad after his bad start, so he obviously doesn't rate him.

Get a grip.

The 2.5mill +? we've recouped this year from players that wouldn't have made a difference to our 1st team probably funded our entire squad this season.

No matter how big you think we are league 1 academies are about producing saleable potential - you can be us and use the money to fund your squad or be like Coventry and need to use them when they're not ready.

DCL and Ramers had massive potential, however they weren't a naughton/walker they weren't ready... odds are we wouldn't have played them their contracts would have run down and we'd have lost them for nothing... as soon as a sniff from the premiership.

Fact is that's the way it is... prem teams can spunk a couple of mill on potential and pay them enough to keep them happy until their ready...

And if Bolton only get 3mill for Clough it might give a little perspective.

According to a post from Foxy, we could afford to get the car park Desso'd now.

I've absolutely no idea where the Van Veen thing came from but I find it staggering Scunny have turned down £4m. It can't possibly be true.
