....mainly to see a bit of O'Shea because I will admit to knowing little about him. Overall, he looked decent when involved but nothing more, still I am hopeful he will do well for us.

BUT what stood out more was when the commentator reminded me that we were 9 points behind Scunny at that point. It put things into perspective for me. Yes we have fucked up the last few matches, but that's all. They have also dropped at least 9 points since that match and are still in 2nd. Regardless of any games in hand we are now the ones to catch and will be in the mix come what may.

Who wouldn't have taken this position at the start of the season?

Yeah I remember that. They scored from a Chris Basham fuck-up.

Fancy that eh?

Evans got off to a flyer and caused some problems down our right flank, yes Bash fucked up but he also had Evans on a couple of occasions as well.
1st half could have easy been 2-1. Done should have scored and they hit the bar from a sitter.
2nd half demolition job was tremendous though eh?

Seem to recall O'Shea wasted a really good chance, albeit near the end when we were 4-1 up..... oh happier days!

How many league goals has the best midfield 3 in the league got?

Duffy 5
Coutts 1 (2 in cups)
Fleck 1

However, they have 21 assists between them. Nobody comes close to them.

Interestingly Jay O'Shea has 5 assists to add to his 6 league goals.

Based on goals and assists, Josh Morris is the best in the league with 9 assists and 17 goals.
Thanks for that. Maybe I want too much from our midfield. I think they are far too static in that they work only from the edge of our box to the edge of the oppositions. It may be what CW has told them to do. In open play only Duffy (and I know he is the furthest forward in general) is prepared to run at their players. We may find that the restriction is put on JOS when he gets his chance and the goals will not be there for him? The trouble with the edge to edge play is that they take it too literally in my mind and it means that they seem to not take responsibility in defensive situations especially. Look at the last few games including Southend and see how we have conceded through lack of midfield back up. I remember two assists from Coutts and it was when he took some responsibility going forward. The winner against Bury was it when EEL scored and the one where he told EEL to leave it and he ran and put the ball across the box and it came off their defender for Freeman to score (Northampton).
