Pigs chairman tells the manager they won't be selling 'any players this season'.

Forestieri even refuses to play a game amid interest from Newcastle etc, Pigs still don't budge.

Forestieri just signed a new contract to 2020.

Mind blowing stuff eh, this 'saying no' lark rather than trotting out the usual 'because he wants to go, what else can we do' guff at the Q n As.

Hope things'll be different in future, especially now we've got a manager who's the dogs bollocks

So what you are saying then it's let's show ambition and risk going bankrupt.
It doesn't matter getting in to massive debt as it's not my money or your money.

What you are saying is if a player has a strop then let's give in to his demands and give him what he wants risking unrest amongst the other players or we could give every player a £5K a week payrise to make them all happy.

And also whilst we're at it, let's increase ticket prices by £10 to £15 a match across the board.

If the board was to show big ambition then would the fans match that ambition? I suspect not!

Nobody is going bankrupt as a result of this, and nobody is saying that.

...well, to be pedantic, some of it was your money.. a very small part ;)

I thought he'd done a few projects in China so he may well have.
And the Prince is a Saud.

I don't think we should go there.

I bet Tesco's are thinking of banning the sale of McCabes non line caught bricks and the Princes unsustainable bog roll paper as well.

Shakes fist.......

Out of interest - do you know how much his new contract is for?

Perhaps his agent said "40K per week tuna boy, or my boy is off.............over to you"

Can't be far off that the way wages are these days.

Ever cooked tinned tuna? It's very similar to pork if you do, which is apt.

It wasn't long back some of the grunters on social media were saying how shit he's been of late but when I've seen him play on the box he's looked a handful. Not sure how he's playing at the moment but can't see him hanging around if they don't get promoted tbf.

Wednesday won't get anywhere backing down to every whim of their players. I suspect FF will be on £50,000 p/w.

Can't wait to see the ticket prices for next year!!! :D:D:D

That said, prepare yourself for them charging us £50 a pop when we go there.
Well I think a petition should be in order to charge them the same to be fair. I'd also like for us to only give them the lower tier. Carruthers can watch the game from the upper tier if he's injured ;)

Fletcher and Hooper are on 35K apparently and Forestieri wanted more than those two.
Tuna boy has a very open cheque book - even if he is now on parity - that's approx £5.5m per year on 3 forwards!

Christ talk about making a straw man argument.
We've sold way too many players and not once stood our ground, McCabe makes out the club has no choice in this situation when they do.

Not exactly going all out to attack the man am I? There's people who claim mccabe has made money out of Utd which is absolutely ludicrous, doesn't mean I can't criticise the transfer policy over the years.

But aren't you comparing it to a situation where they made not even have received a bid for him?

Hehehehe I love how the McCabe apologists are slating the Pigs for being weak and crumbling to a players demands. Short memories eh lads ? Didn't we do the same with McDonald when he wouldn't extend his contract? We still sold the money grabbing cunt a few days before the transfer window slammed shut meaning we had to make do with what was left. So the McCabe arse licking society have no need to bang the drum but neither do the Pigs.

The whole financial dynamics change when a club is in the Top 6 of the Championship with a whif of the gravy train that is the Premier League.

Six years in League 1 seems a long way off that and things will be different when we get there. Wednesday can afford to push the boat out when there's a chance of a £70m income in the Prem if they go up. If they don't go up, how many years will they continue to speculate/ gamble/ write the cheques?

We are in a different phase but the prince did send us messages that his investments would increase once we are up in the Championship.

Note: Neither DCL or Adams were first team choices at the start of the season and only Adams would have been anywhere near by now, though I strongly suspect Adams isn't Wilder's sort of bloke.

BTW I'm afraid Calvert-Lewin's Everton first team substitute outings are way too soon. he should be out on loan in L2 or mid-table L1.

Or maybe, for those that can grasp it, it's pointing out that this Chansiri love in is EXACTLY what we've done in the past putting us in L1 for six years but all of a sudden it's a good idea if the Pigs do it. Ie pandering to mercenaries.

Further thought, the length of the contract can be meaningless if there is an agreed fee trigger clause written in there.

We were all delighted when Jags signed a new contract but we didn't know there was a agreed £4m transfer trigger clause.

Reckon Forrestieri will have insisted on one, maybe round the £20m region - never worth it!!, won't happen.

I already mentioned the trigger but I doubt the player would want it set at £20m. Limits his options. IMO anyway.

Glance read the thread, excellent point you made then Sean!! Any trigger clause would be negotiated of course, can't imagine Wednesday agreeing less than £20m which is a reported value now for the likes of Premier clubs and maybe even Newcastle. Forestieri's previous contract was a four year one until 2019 so Wednesday had a strong bargaining hand for the extra year.

I think the £20m would have been around the clubs starting point. As you say, negotiated.

Somebody else posted a thread 'Never about money, far from it, it's always about the manager' which contradicts your argument to a certain extent.

I’m taking a long term view when it comes to Chansiri. There are few little things – writing his name in the stand, sitting himself front and centre on the team photo, gross ticket prices, waffling open letters to fans – that lead me to believe this may go a bit Cellino/Oyston/Vincent Tan given a bit of time. Until then, we’d do well to keep our powder dry.

Football is a team game and the ability to foster team spirit and get players to "die for the cause" makes a really good team. The last thing you want in the changing room is one or more "disaffected" players, prima donnas or players who would be quite happy not to play but just sit around taking a massive pay packet each week. I get the feeling that at the moment the spirit that Wilder has fostered is such that everyone wants to play for each other and the club. There are no prima donnas even though some players will be on more than others. However the difference in wages will be relatively small compared with players on upper end Championship wages of £35 to £50k pw.
If some club comes in and wants to buy from a L1 club like us and gives that player an opportunity to progress their career at a higher level and for considerably more money it is difficult if not impossible to stand in their way. To refuse them that chance you just end up with a very disaffected player and potentially an unhappy dressing room. To blame Kervin McCabe for selling some of our players in these circumstances is ludicrous and typical of some of the nonsense that sadly often appears on this forum. The way to stop this is to be successful and play at a higher level.
I predict that Wendy have made a rod for their own backs by giving into Forrestieri and by buying other players who are not frankly that good and are on silly money. I think it will all fall apart and come back to haunt them. Forrestieri is nothing but a mercenary and I suggest does not really give a shit about his club. I bet the team spirit in the Wendy dressing room is nothing compared to ours and I am sure that CW will keep it that way even as hopefully we get promoted and are able to improve the overall strandard of the squad.

The pigs don't have to worry about going bust though do they

They are one of that breed of bastard clubs that will fuck up anybody to get what they want and to hell with what it costs somebody else

He has already changed their badge which looks even worse than it did before.

I wonder how long it will be before he decides to change the colour of the kit.

Interesting that their away kit is very similar to ours, maybe it is only a matter of time. :)

They'd ordered 40'000 copies of Dean Hammond's Autobiography, even that fucker's moving slowly ;)
