David Munks broke his leg in that match and was replaced by sub Frank Barlow. It didnt show the incident in youtube but it might do in the BT Sports programme

Ive got our three MotD appearances from that season on DVD in full and always meant to do a season video for the year. Sadly, they were not good results. Also, at 40 minutes each, I don't know if anyone would sit through two hours of it.

We were scheduled to be on away against Liverpool that season on April 2nd, but the match was postponed because of snow.

Arsenal, Northampton and who is the other?

Just remembered. West Ham

Aye. Joe Shaw's last game I think. We lose 4-0 but we are well on top early and the first two goals are sort of freakish. After that it all goes to shit. We wore red and white stripes, red socks and red shorts that day.

As you say that game against Liverpool was scheduled for April 2nd - a week before Easter but was cancelled due to snow which is quite late. Strangely enough in 1994 we played at Liverpool on Easter Saturday and it snowed heavily that day going over the Pennines.

A total waste of information but I felt I needed to share it with someone.

Just watched the recording. Glad BT Sport did provide subtitles. Ken Wolstenholme said that the MOTD programme that evening would be the first time for viewers in the North to see the programme as BBC2 was now available in the North. Didnt know that!

Wolstenholme got it wrong when Woody assisted Reece's goal (he said it was Mick Jones who provided the assist) also when Munks got down injured near the end of the first half, the commentator thought it was Mallender. Munks bravely carried on playing for the rest of the half and for the first few minutes of the second half before collapsing again (he hadnt realised he had broken his leg) and Frank Barlow replaced him.

Arsenal's 4th goal was never a goal.

Joe Shaw played some neat football

I didn't rate Kettleborough. Was he coming to the end of his career?

Got transferred to Newcastle after the 2-2 draw at home to Northampton on New Years Day 1966. In late 1966 he became player manager of Doncaster Rovers and then in 1967 he moved to Chesterfield

Yep, BBC2 has been around for years now SB.
In fact, you can now buy one of them dustbin-lid like metal dish thingys and watch lots of different channels.
There's even one where you can watch buxom young ladies juggle with their own chesticles.....so I'm told

The next season we were only on once, against Fulham in the Cup and we drew 1-1. In 1967-1968 we were relegated and appeared only once, in a 1-1 draw away at Arsenal. In 1968-1969 we were on just once again, losing 2-1 to Oxford United.

In 1969-1970 MotD tried to compete with ITV's regional offerings by splitting each show. There would be a main match shown nationwide and then coverage would go to the regions and a match featuring a local team would be shown. On August 16th 1969 we had our first win on MotD, when, after showing Liverpool awat at Tottenham, the South and West regions showed us spanking Portsmouth 5-1 at Fratton Park. Sadly, I don't think footage from these second games exists any longer. We were on as the featured match twice that season, away against QPR (losing 2-1) and away against Blackburn Rovers (winning 2-1). The following season we got promoted and were featured twice, a 1-0 away win at Birmingham and a 0-0 draw at home to Leicester.

Following promotion our next appearances* were...

1971-1972
Beating Leicester 1-0 away
Losing 2-0 to Manchester United away
Beating West Ham 2-1 away**
Losing 5-1 away to Crystal Palace**
Drawing 3-3 at home with Manchester City

1972-1973
Losing 2-1 at home to Newcastle**

1973-1974
Drawing 0-0 away at QPR
Drawing 1-1 with Leicester away**
Losing 1-0 to Manchester United away**
Losing 1-0 to QPR away**

1974-1975
Losing 1-0 away at QPR**
Beating Spurs 3-1 away
Beating West Ham 3-2 at home

1975-1976
Losing 5-1 away at Manchester United**
Losing 2-0 at home to Stoke**

1976-1977
Drawing 1-1 away at Southampton**
Losing 3-0 away to Harry Haslam's Luton**

1977-1978
Losing 2-1 away at Brighton**

1978-1979
Beating Sunderland 3-2 at home

1979-1980
Beating Oxford 3-1 at home
Drawing 1-1 at home with the Pigs

1980-1981
Beating Swindon 3-0 at home

1981-1982
Losing 5-2 away at Colchester

Some of these have been shown on similar sorts of nostalgia shows (5-1 tonking against Man U, 3-2 win over Sunderland, 1-1 draw with the Pigs, the 3-0 win over Swindon) and I have those in full and used them on the videos I did. Hopefully BT Sports will show the rest, starting with our wins.

* Excluding Watney Cup games
** No footage on the BBC video from years ago
