And we still haven't beaten any of the top seven teams in league one this season, me thinks it will be difficult to finish in the top two if we can't improve on this. Think we should aspire to more than just the play offs.
We have played them all away, barring Rochdale and Southend in which we were in our horrendous start. We played Bolton in that too and deserved more.

Against Scunny we got a point with 10 men. Bradford we scored 3 and still didn't win.

It's not all as simple as that.

He gets grief from me for being a tubby gormless nobody who isn't fit to lace Matt Dones boots, but each to their own I guess.

The careers of both don't bear comparison.

Current form however, whilst not bearing out your hyperbole, does warrant closer scrutiny.

Maybe we won yesterday because big Leon tired out their defence.

Well, I hope the third attempt of this works. But this seems on the face of it a mistake.

Hope you don't mind the slight change.

This season, Billy's partner is the only problem left that will prevent us finishing on top - solve this and it's happy days - don't solve it and run the risk of finishing third.

you are deliberately missing the point.. clark gets grief because he played for the massives and banged in goals against us on a regular basis.. thankfully CW can see through the bullshit

Clarke gets grief because he is not performing and certainly performing well enough to be starting matches.

That miss yesterday, his reaction after missing and his reaction coming off the pitch is why some of us think he is a bit of a Jeremy Hunt.

Overall so far I am disappointed with him and was expecting better from a player with his experience. Maybe he just performs better as a big fish in a small pond? Who knows? All I know is I am sick of seeing Wilder keep trying to elbow him into the team alongside Billy.

Why do you think Wilder is doing so and do you think his actions places the team at a disadvantage?
Wilder is not stupid.

He will NOT allow the Clarke situation to go the same way as with Higdon and Sammon. He will, I am quite sure, be privately and quietly disappointed with Clarkes output thus far. But is hardly likely to broadcast it in view of the players fragile personality.

Clarke will, in all probability, by approaching the last chance saloon at United and if a CF is added in this window, his days could genuinely be numbered.

Was never the answer in the first place.

I have no idea why he is doing so and yes it does place the team at disadvantage as there are better players to partner Sharp at this moment in time. Also there is enough evidence to show that the partnership is not working which is the main reason I don't get Wilders thinking.

As Dronnie Blade says you would assume Wilder will eventually see this and possibly get rid of him.

Wonder why Wilder thought he was..
On paper it should work. Maybe !

Combining Sharp and Clarke should have the potential for goals goals goals.

Many rate Clarke and his goal scoring record in L1 (prior to this year !!!) is impressive. No doubt. Maybe there was interest in Sharp in the summer and Wilder did not want to leave us short in this area if Sharp left. Dunno.

Wilder has forgotten more about the game than I will ever know, but his judgement on this, imho, is off. Can't get em all right !!

I've never rated Clarke, even when in his prime, which he most certainly is now well past. And before some numpty says its cos he's an ex Pig, please don't bother. My eyeballs tell me all I need to know.

So just to be clear...........CLARKE definitely is WANK then, just making sure because I said it ages ago and lots of people vented spleen at me for saying it so....just happy I'm not the only one that knows it's true!!

Not me saying that...

“There is a lot of nonsense spoken that Leon and Billy can’t play together,” said Wilder. “For me, it’s absolute garbage".

But our manager Chrissy is saying it.

We seem to have a fair few on here who keep coming out with this rubbish that Clarke can't play with Sharp. So, if you're one of them, take note of what Chris is saying to you. You're wrong - and he's right. And I back him 100% on that.

For the record I've said before that:

Done isn't a striker
Clarke can play with Sharp
Lavery would be a better bet than Done
Lafferty isn't very good and we should play Done there instead
Ebanks-Landell is good but no world-beater and not irreplaceable
Scougall won't make it at this club
The team lacks pace
We will be promoted in auto

Anyhow - I know I can't be right about all these things, possibly, but as long as I'm right about the last one that will do. Meanwhile though, I do think some of you should just give Clarke a break and try and appreciate him for what he can bring to the team, in a striker role alongside Billy.

He scored 18 goals last season for a poor Bury team and he only played about 30 games. He's now looking fully fit and quite sharp if you ask me - so let's see how sharp he is with Sharp?
Do you know what CB, I am on board with almost everything you say In this post. Everything except one thing ;)

Thought someone had said we won't win the league by 6 clear points when I read the OP

perhaps you need to get your ears tested not your eyes.. the lad gets dogs abuse for being ex S6.. and people wonder why he looks short on confidence..

Yep. It's difficult to see past the " ex pig" jibe despite claims to the contrary.

He was poor yesterday. For most of the match, so was Billy. ( is it okay to say that?)

Plus he looked gutted when he came off. But let's pretend he doesn't care.....

yes i agree totally.. i thought most of the team looked a little out of sorts even coutts and duffy.. that's probably more down to the opposition

I can honestly say I have never heard comments about being an ex pig directed at Clarke while he has been wearing a UTD shirt.

Not once.

And I can honestly say I heard a few on the Kop last Saturday. Not many though, and I heard a few criticise those who did.
