Am I the only one on here who ever took out a less than striking lady then? All you had to do was make sure you didn't bump into your mates who would invariably all start barking.

(Always drew the line at fat birds though, even at 1.55am, some things are sacrosanct drunk or not)

There were very few fat birds in those days....not like now.

Did you forget the beer goggles?

I know two people (now no longer living) who saw Bradman in that match through a hole in one of the gates as the ground was really full when the maestro was batting

Signed bat and menu with all the Aussie names on them including Bradmans of course.

The less than model like ones always appreciated you more and gave you a better time. Usually a lot more interesting ,and knew the best boozers and chippies too. Im sure ladies thought the same because you would always see quality girls with 'gorillas on my street' as Joe Jackson put it. The cynical side of me would say that was probably more to do with the monthly pay slip though.

A personal favorite of mine.

You've clapped some right timber on since then mate. :);)

Wonderful, wonderful thread. So many memories. I was privelaged to be at the last ever cricket match at The Lane, and spent time during some defining games on the pavillion side, namely Hull and Cardiff in 1971. Great stuff guys.

Looks like Chivers and John Pratt. Can't work out the other Spurs player.
Terry Naylor (not Chivers), John Pratt and Ray Evans. March 25th 1972. I was there. That night TC had facial injuries after crashing his car in the town centre. He was out of action for 3 weeks.

Yes! Bert kept looking at Naylor and wasn't sure, especially since he was defending.
