How can they be allowed to blow whistles for 90 minutes for a start ,what is the point of stewards or coppers ?

I think they were trying to not stir things up further... But they could and should have done a lot more to make it harder for them.

It was obvious what was going to happen towards the end and for a while there were about two stewards trying to contend with them playing pacman in the empty stand.

sad state of affairs really. the players did amazingly well

Surely a better protest would be to stay away en masse. An empty stadium except for the away fans on TV seems more effective than a bunch of twats running on to the pitch and disrupting the game.

Spotted it ,steward chasing the guy ,they should have the book thrown at them for not policing strong enough ,it was completely unacceptable ,imagine if Millwall had done it ?

They were fairly lucky that the few riled Blades who raced towards the pitch to have a pop didn't run on... Could have been far worse.

If that was at the lane police horses would have been ont pitch ant lot

In terms of protests I think people will be talking about that one for some time. Part of protest is disruption and becoming impossible to ignore. Definitely couldn't do that tonight.

This.

A million times this.

Yes they will. They'll be saying what a bunch of tossers.

Good to see you again tonight feller.
All the best for you and Linz for crimble.
UTB!

Found Sky's views on it bizarre too.

Fans blow whistles all game which causes disruption. Then they invade the pitch to disrupt a game, meaning players have to start again with the possibility of injury.

And Sky back them up. Ridiculous.

Birtles is a total cockwomble though. Saying how well they protested peacefully and you have to understand and sympathise with them. Then blaming them.when we scored. Brilliant. Not enjoyed a win as much this season.

Tbf Millwall supports took the piss big time in the last 10 mins when the ball went into the stands this season and the stewards laughed along with those also hilarious chirpy cockneys

I am expecting the Football Supporters Association to kick us out for not "showing solidarity"

On a brighter note we got 3 points showed character to get them in the most difficult of circumstances. Cov got what they wanted, I sympathise with them, it's like being a blade but worse and having to play home games at elland road before returning back to BL with the uncertainty of maybe having to leave again. Just unlucky for us that this was there opportunity to make a statement infront of the cameras.

Crack on and put it in the past as 3 points gained. Champions win games like that tonight

What's disappointing, is despite the intel suggesting such disruption would take place, there were insufficient stewards to deal with the matters inside of the stadium.
Policing too, not enough. The police policy nationally tends to be to leave the stewards to carry out policing inside. And sadly that's down to money.

If police do a job inside the stadium they can bill the clubs. Hence why there is a very small presence of cops inside stadiums.

What was most weird was how they invaded from an empty stand. That should have been the easiest place to avoid a pitch invasion from.

I'm sure in the past the referee has actually stopped the game when somebody in the crowd is blowing a whistle.
Mind you, he tried to make up for it by stopping play whilst we were in possession because there was a balloon on the pitch.

Wouldn't call it backing them up. I would call it trying their hardest not to take a position, "The protesters didn't attack anyone, the stewards and police didn't crack any skulls, we don't like disrupting the game but you've got to appreciate their passion". Boring Sky Sports presenters that aren't picked because they ever have a real opinion.

I thought that CCFC could have policed/handled the whole event much better.
The protest against any football club owners should never have included breaching of ground regulations,i.e entering the field of play, throwing missiles at players, and use of whistles.
How difficult would it have been to identify those using whistles after a warning stadium announcement.

To the cov fans; not matter what your grievances are, to involve ANY other clubs in your squabbles is just pathetic.
Those disrupting play should be given bans.

2. Award the match to Coventry
3. Ban Blades from away fixtures for the rest of the season
4. Dock 5 points from the Blades
