With the exception of Paddy,Killa,BT and Sharp for me the rest would be for sale........ harsh ? maybe but the Blades do need pace.

I'd add Geary, Stead to that and agree.
But only if good offers came in for these other good players. I do believe a lot of players have gone stale for the Blades, and maybe a move would do them some good.

barring the youngsters ie nicky law, jordan robertson, i would largely agree with this that i wouldnt be too disappointed to see any of the other players leave, would like to keep carney, webber and stead though and would consider getting rid of sharp for the right amount.
question to ask though for those other players, using one for a example, based on current form if naysmith goes can we get anyone in thats better than him? i personally doubt it

I'd sell the ground, players, Academies, Chengdu, Ferencvaros & the club shop in Co-op, give up and start again in encliffe park!

The problem with having a mass clearout... is we'll have another situation where we have a full squad trying to gel.
I agree we definately have to move on some of the squad... but I think making mass changes could harm our chances of a good start next season.

I don't think a clearout is what he means.
My point of view is that if a good price came in for one of the players then move them on if a replacement is forthcoming. Basically, put it about and see what is on the horizon.

Just seems to me there is a lot of 'dead wood' at BDTBL all costing money.
Some of the players may just be stale therefore a good move for them and SUFC........ after all the Blades just can't keep adding to the squad and pace is something we can't ignore.
My thoughts............................

Exactly, some would do with a move on.
However some of what was deemed as deadwood by Robbo was harsh in my opinion, ie Bromby/AQuinn.
If we can get decent prices for some of the players then a move can do them good.
Armstrong may well be one of these players, Tonge another, Webber (as much as I don't want him to go)

To clearout the whole squad other than the players he mentioned would be crazy, we'd just end up with another season of disappointment due to players not knowing each other.
What was the last post I pulled him down on, i haven't commented on many of his posts recently.
The board and management (whoever that is) will decide on who stays and who goes, thei will be a few players leave and stay that people don't agree on but I don't see only 4 of the main squad from this season being left at the beginning of next season.

I did misunderstand, my bad.
Just don't want a full clearout, would be very harsh on some hardworking players.
And anyone who if put up for sale didn't get sold prob wouldn't want to play 100% for us next season.
I know some players will have to go to make way for better and mre consistent players and if we get the right ones i look forward to seeing whoever it is play.

No one adding Cotterill? Fastest we have, MArtin perhaps, can be fast, need to see how he does when he comes back. We do need to offload a couple, but offloading a couple might leave us in a bad situation where we have to rebuild a team to perform like ours has been for the past month or so.
Since we are on the topic of pace, and I can't be bothered to write in the other thread, I can see we need some pace, but yesterday Killa, Beattie and Cotterill shone for me, Killa was out running the Owls and he was a few yards behind them, and was it Jermain Johnson who was on Cotterill down the wing? Now he is fast, and even Johnson found it difficult to keep up with Cotterill, we all know Geary can be a speedy lil guy aswell, although we do need some more pace to keep up with Beattie, 'cos all said and done, Sharpy just aint fast enough.

He never said to SELL them. Put them up for sale, see what people are prepared to pay, if a good offer comes along and it is right for all parties then yes, ship them out.

A lot of people do seem to be wanting a clean sweep thats all. Whilst it could be great.... I think there would be a massive risk in making wholesale changes.
As for the thread itself, in my opinion its another in a beginning trend of good debate sparkers from Mr BeightonBlade himself... I've not heard the often included and repeated words for a good while now
Good on BB for sticking around and seemingly embracing wider discussion than it first appeared to a good few people!

Thats the thing... not only do we have to replace their individual qualities... but its also gonna cost us a pricely sum to do it on any sort of scale. We have to strike the very difficult balance.

I'm sorry if it looks like I'm having a go, it's just I feel his posting has improved a hell of a lot of late. I just think that when you ask some of the questions you don't put it out in a sense in that you will get a better response from him.

Just had another look at the squad........... at least 11 should be gone this summer.
Horsfield, Lucketti, Gillespie, Seck, Speed, Ehiogu, Hendrie, Bennet, Naysmith, Montgomery, Gerrard.
Proviso: replaced by better quality players.

in the currentl climate we wouldnt get anything for him anyway. No-one is going to buy a player that is injured, and due to his lack of training and appearances noone has any idea on when he will be back

Out of that list i think Speed will stay (part time coach) and Montgomery.
If anyone offers us what we paid for him then id sell Naysmith as well.

Apart from Speed I agree with the rest on that list.
Speed despite his age adds alot of experience to the team and worth hanging onto. Even if he only ends up not playing as much next season.
Wouldn't get rid of Montgomery, Speed or Naysmith.
We arn't exactly swimming in left and right backs.
Speed will be good for the other players to learn things from playing or not.
Montgomery has always been a good battler and if we have no other (better) players to play in his position then i'd bet my dad's house that he'd put in a good shift and not let no one down.

one thing for sure............. SUFC are carrying to many passengers in the squad and they need thinning out..................
