For me, now. I'd never have changed the winning team.

Thank my said, I don't think we need to be disparaging about his career, which is very successful at this level. I don't think pointing that out makes anyone rose tinted.

So you have seen enough of Leon in about 15 games in a Blades shirt to call time, even though you believe he had a previously successful L1 career ?

And if I have been disparaging, it has been entirely focused and directed on his Sheffield United career, with no consideration whatsoever to previous endeavours, for which I could not give two fooks !

I think you're getting your knickers in a twist about nothing here (I should have used the odd smiley perhaps).

There are two separate points;

Should we be giving time to see if Leon Clarke can add something to a team that was already on a superb winning streak - absolutely not.

Is Leon Clarke proven at this level - absolutely yes.

The two can happily sit hand in hand. But I don't think the second statement would make anyone rose tinted.

A proven goal scorer at this level ? Agreed.

Everything else in a footballing sense ? I'm less certain, to say the least.

What I believe started our engagement was my perception of our differences of opinion of what Leon Clarke offers Sheffield United in 2016/2017. When as it turns out, it appears to be more or less the same. Nowt !!

One thing worth saying is that when the crossing is as abysmal as ours has been in the last few games, a player like Clarke won't contribute as much. He showed glimpses of the class he has against Chesterfield, both in his goal and in his fantastic link up play for Sharp's.

I don't want to sound too much like Captain Hindsight here, because I said Clarke ought to get his chance, but it seems like the absence of Done shows what he does to sides. His constant movement and work rate hurts teams. It wears them down, pulls people out of position, and creates space for others. My suspicion is that Clarke has more goals in him in the long run, but won't provide the level of disruption that Done can. And even if Donet means our system ends up revolving around one out-and-out striker in Billy, that may be more productive.

Not really bothered about today. It was a tough game and we played a weakened team, and in spite of that there are still a fair number of positives. Back to the league where it matters.

If Chris Wilder had been impressed with Done's contribution during the unbeaten run he wouldn't have dropped him. Just because the replacements haven't contributed enough doesn't mean that Done was performing well.
I think it just shows that we need another striker in January.

Or it means he signed Clarke for a reason, Clarke was doing well in training, and Done's goal drought led to him getting a shot in the first team. The question now is who did we look like the better team with? So far, it looks like Done. Whether Wilder changes it back immediately or gives Clarke another shot is up to him and I respect his decision given there's good arguments for both.

I agree. Wilder did not sign Clarke because he is shit. He is not currently doing the business on the pitch.
Unfortunately the decision on who to partner Billy at the moment is based on who is least shit because none of them are good atm (although I felt Lavery was better today than he has been previously)

It's obviouse the management will revue the squad in the run up to January and it goes without saying there will be ins and outs. The key is that Wilder gets it right , we may initially think he got it wrong we have to trust him he's done a great job so far.Going back to Clarke his goal scoring record at this level is good so maybe given a bit of time to find his feet it may pay off.If we go back to Ched Evans glory season he came back ( I think in late September ) from an ankle injury ( did it i think against Barnsley at the end of our relegation season ) First few games he was well off the pace and if anyone had suggested he would go on a goal spree he would have been laughed at. Well it maybe history now but Clarke is quite capable of being our match winner let's leave it to Wilder as I say he's done a great job so far.

Its nearly Xmas. How long does Clarke need? I may be talking out of my arse here but I just feel he can't work at the same pace that the team wants to play at. That's not his fault. It's just not his game.

Think the thread title is spelt wrong sorry, shouldn't it be.........W-A-N-K.....??????

Done and Clarke could both be on there way in January .

One thing , Leon Clarke is not wank .

Every time he has played against us , he always looked class , and the fucker always seems to score and give us the runaround .

Good signing , but in a way does not compliment the main man Billy .

No Blade player under the Wilder watch is wank . If they do not fit the system , then Wilder will do something about it.

Clarke is a asset . If Wilder starts to think otherwise ( like with any player ) , he will move them on.

Know your football , fuck me , the bloke wears a red and white shirt. You keep wank for the opposition .

Forgive him, as was already shown this weekend he had a different sense of humour to the rest of the known world.

Hussey was okay apart from his crap crossing, not bothering to mark Madine for the goal and not tracking Ameobi for his goal
Yes, but apart from his crap crossing, not bothering to mark, not tracking back and being responsible for two of their goals, how ok was he?

I didn't go but Hussey must be some player if CW wants him to be responsible for marking TWO players out of the game AND also tasked to be an attacking winger! Phew! glad I don't play for Tufty.
