My guess is we'll be told in January money is tight and all the gate money is spent so we've gone for this guy cos he's nice and cheap and comes with good reputation, nice skills though. Scores hat tricks if you give him a carrrot.

I can be a right annoying twat but I fucking love donkeys. Football playing donkeys are bloody great, thanks SB top vid :D:D:D

Sell the Desso pitch... eh pommpey?

Well, it was a proven Game Changing Investment, wasn't it? I mean, the amount of games not postponed over the previous five seasons was ... um ... erm ...

Okay, forget that. The change in playing surface enabled some fast attacking play to be brought in which resulted in more wins, more points and our eventual promoti ... um ... erm ... yeah.

Okay, forget that. We spunk a million bucks (or two decent central defenders) on a playing surface because ... um ... erm ...

For all your farting out of your arsehole you do, for all the 'likes' bestowed therein, for all the 'you know nowt, I'm a bigger Bladey Blade' you keep rattling on about, none of you can tell me why we sold Jamie Murphy and bought a fucking football pitch in the same calendar year (oh, and sacked yet another manager on the back of continued failure)

Thank fuck I don't work for Bert's empire.

That would be the same calendar year where we probably paid out a record fee for League 1 ;)

Sale of Adams. Sale of DCL. Sale of half season tickets. Removal of around 15 players from the wage bill from last year. Crowds staying strong. If we beat Bolton, possibly some cup revenue? Possibly a fee if we sell Brayford and/or McNulty?

Evans ought to be fairly cheap. I suspect Taylor and to some extent Oztumer would costs considerably more. Fact is, none of us know how much is actually available to spend though.

The previous year where we'd flogged our one and only good central defender. Yes.

But we still bought the pitch.

Having two million pound central defenders wouldn't have made a difference in the last two seasons IMO.

Tranmere Rovers' contribution to the wages of teak-tough Jim Wallace.

Last transfer window was the best we've ever had in terms of recruitment in my opinion. Loads of players, most of whom have radically improved our side and very few duds.

Well done McCabe and Prince for that, superb backing.

Let's see if there's anyone to come in in January. Given we're one of the top scorers in the League, I still think a centre half to replace EEL is priority for me.

I reckon if Chris Wilder wants player (s) in January he will be supported, he knows the level of player he will be allowd to bring in and the owners want out of this division as soon as possible, could be an exciting January.

Really?

So McEveley and Brayford were perfectly adequate, playing alongside the redoubtable Collins, and no amount of uplift in talent would have prevented, say, Swindon's first and second goals going in at BDTBL then?

I think people quickly forget how dismally shit the CB situation was since Morgan retired.

Yes really, you can highlight certain defensive cock-ups in the last 2 seasons but with the 'style' of play under Clough and Adkins having 2 'Maguires' wouldn't have ultimately changed things IMO.

Tufty's investment (lack of money wise) in the defence last Summer has proved that you don't need to spend big in that department in this division.

We've loaned a CL benchwarmer who has proven he's way above this league and what we have been used to since the departure of Maguire, and signed a could of fillers who hold their own with him playing alongside them.

Let's see what happens if/when Wolves call EEL back and McCabe fails to fund either his purchase or a suitable replacement. Last three games have shown some real frailties in that area. We have no depth in strength (never mind strength in depth) in the CB department.

I suggest you read the various threads on EEL, JOC and Wright.

Or we could just wait until after the JTW closes and see if EEL is still here, or, if not, whether CW has brought in a replacement.

I was referring more to pomp's comments that EEL has 'proven he's way above this league' and that JOC, Wright are 'fillers who hold their own with him playing alongside them'.

Yes I know. Sorry, I should have used multi-quote.

Wright is better than EEL and has been all season.
