Please now shut up about Evans......

Fitness and match sharpness are obvious concerns about Evans right now and with the wealth of strikers we have I'm not bothered about it either way. But on today's showing, I thought he was impressive in glimpses. Nice touch through for their goal, nearly scored from a very tight angle, caused us trouble throughout the game. I'd forgotten how strong he is too.

While he was on the pitch we had to be constantly mindful of their counter-attack. As soon as that threat left the pitch we were free to push up in numbers and rip them a new one. I think we had enough to win the game regardless, but Evans and Ariyibi (who we completely silenced in the second half) were a cut above the rest of the Ches team.

Spot on.

I put my head above the parapet and quite openly called his signing a disgraceful decision ,
his effort v Coventry away summed him up perfectly .
He was an utter prick , and I for one was delighted when he was fucked off .
Couldn't agree more , his showing and demenour against Cov at Northampton on TV was a low point for SUFC , well done for highlighting it , please God we never plumb those depths again.

I think our fans acted perfectly towards him today. Didn't chant his name until we were winning and left the pitch. He didn't celebrate their goal at all.

Side note is it looked like he was only applauding our fans as he came off. Bet the smack heads won't be too pleased about that

He was booed for a dive and fouling Moore as well. He didn't celebrate the goal either, just walked over to the celebrating woollyback players. He played well during the first half. First fifteen minutes he looked a genuine threat.

Doesn't mean everyone who acknowledged his performance wants to re sign him or is in thrall to him.

Explain the constant obsession????... he's not good enough for our current team... he thinks only about himself....typical big time Charlie.

Really? I was thinking he was their only real threat out there and breathed a sigh of relief when he went off. I was also thinking him and Sharp as a partnership would be unstoppable.

I wouldn't want him anywhere near.....he's a one man side show.....and we will and are doing much better than him

Sharp and Clarke both played better than him today, that's what matters.

Seems a little injury prone as well, think this is his 3rd injury since joining Chesterfield.

Glad he got a good reception
And I'd have him back, he did ok whilst he was on the pitch and his involvement in their goal suggests he's still got it if he can get fully fit again

Looking at our current strikers, they are very good for League One, but at Championship level they would be woeful. Now I know we are a League One club and we shouldn't worry about the Championship until we get there, but where else can we find a striker with the potential to be successful at Championship level who is as cheap as Evans?

With Championship clubs now spending over £10m on strikers, Ched could easily be worth £3m-£5m, so why not take a calculated risk on a player that could be worth far more in a years time?

He's yet to prove he can still cut it in this league, let alone the league above.

He's had one half decent season at championship in what must be 10 years ago?

I'm not against a Ched return but only because he would be better than what we've got, which goes for any new signing, unless they're one for the future. I think if Ched has a decent season for Chesterfield than he might well be worth a punt but its far too early to know how Ched will do this season. He's picking up the odd injury as others have said and who knows if he'll rediscover his previous form. Right now we've got an abundance of forward options and in this league all of them will be a threat. Next season, if promoted, is another matter but for now I'm just going to enjoy the quality we do have. In January I would say the priority is signing EEL and maybe another winger, although if Chapman continues to impress then even on the wing we should be fine. I wouldn't be against a return for Stephen Quinn. I think he would be perfectly suited to Wilders tactics.

A post about Ched, telling us not to talk about Ched adding to the many other posts about Ched. This is why I love forums, nothing better than the irony of being told I can't talk about a subject in a post about that subject.

Like I said it would be a risk, but comparing Evans to Sharp, Clarke, Done and Lavery, I've more confidence in Evans being a success at Championship level in the future.

So, we have a squad that is tight knit, working together and closely bonded? So what part of this mater plan of inviting the at best divisive Ched back (how many goals for this £3m rated striker thus far?) do you think may be a little flawed?

Oh and let's remember that we seem to have goals in this squad so that's not really an issue.

Apart from that it's brilliant.

Where did I say that we should just disregard Wilder's opinion and just sign Ched? If Wilder doesn't want him then that's the end of it, simple as that. I'm just giving an opinion on why I think we should take a chance on him.

Ched has scored more goals than Clarke, Lavery and Done so far this season, so I'm not sure why you are bringing up goals. In that piss poor Chesterfield team, 5 goals is not a bad effort.

Just because we are doing well right now and scoring goals doesn't mean we shouldn't be looking to improve the team, luckily I'm sure Wilder will agree and be looking to sign more quality in January.

I seriously don't understands everyone problem towards ched, he did not cost us promotion the team did for bottling it for one, he is not the sole reason we did not go up that season, face it and get on with now.

His behaviour was worse but we have had players in our side who have been worse or just as bad, such as marlon king and everyone was pleased to sign him.

The team is better, but there is no doubt he would add something to or side, he was a handful today no doubt and everyone getting against him are probably jealous he is not at united... why would I support chesterfield?

Yes great result today, we are the real deal but don't get ahead of ourselves. Need to take it one game at a time.
I wasn't pleased we signed marlon king... he's a twat.. I also think that ched Evans getting sent down did cost us promotion, the players were shocked their team mate got sent down, understandably shocked. The team had to play without a striker who had banged in 30+ goals that season.. without those goals where would we have been in the league? I doubt we would have been 2nd.

The least Danny Wilson deserves from Ched Evans is a full season.. he constantly visited him when he was in prison

Some fans say Evans looked dangerous for the first 15/20 minutes today, he looked sharp, was strong and his runs were impressive. Screams start about not signing him or upsetting team morale. Now Wilder could have him forced on him. Dear me.

That'd be a strong reason for Ched to stay put. But Wilson (and Morgan) will probably be gone before January, and that changes everything.

On what basis? Most wanting him back seem to base that on him becoming what he was for us 5 years ago. By that token he'll be total dogshite in the championship as he was a major factor in our relegation.

I've already shut up about Evans, I did as soon as he was cleared. Anyone who still has an opinion about him needs to get a fucking life quite frankly. Get with the programme.....

I don't get it. Evans cost 3 million and only had one great season for us in league 1, and then fucked us up by being a complete idiot. And he is getting injured a lot. He wasn't good enough when he played in the championship years ago, why would he be good enough now? Its time to put the Ched Evans love feast behind us.

You can have an opinion on the team and as him as a football player within that team surely? Quite frankly.
