Excellent 1 0 win away at the Udders today. Udders played a starting team with well over 400 league appearances including 5 first team players, who were top of the table prior to todays fixture list.

As expected United were never going to be on top in the possession stats but a really well disciplined performance. one first year scholar ( Slater ) and three second year scholars ( Semple, Hallam, Cummings) in the starting team is very encouraging.

LONG, GORDON, CUMMINGS, SEMPLE (C), SLATER, REED, WHITEMAN, BROOKES, WRIGHT, HALLAM

WRIGHT 67

Yep well disciplined well organized performance from the boys. The spine of the team in particular were excellent. Long, Semple, Reed and Jake Wright jnr Long's save at the beginning of the second half was outstanding. Nice sunny afternoon. Timothy Taylors Landlord on tap in the Academy bar for the real ale experts and a gritty 1-0 win. What more could you ask for.20161017_142427.jpg 20161017_175529.jpg

How did Cummings and Semple play Sharrow and also young Slater?

Both Cummins and Semple were solid today, not entirely convinced that Cummins is a right back tho, definitely looks more comfortable at CH.

Huddersfield are a very good side and have some big units, they like to intimidate and I don't think there is any love lost between the sides, its always competitive but the back four were well organized and Longy who gets a lot of complaints for not talking, marshalled them well. Jake Wright Jnr as usual is always in the thick of it, gets kicked black and blue but I really like the kid, took his goal very well. Yet again Huddersfield were reduced to 10 in the second half as Colville lost the plot and got stupidly sent off.

Young Slater worked very hard.

Reed was quality today, in the past I feel at times, he's attempted the 50 yard 'hollywood' pass when there was no need, but today, seemed to play with a real maturity and never shirked a challenge. Ask their full back, who he went straight through.

Cummings and Semple really look strong when together. For some reason every now and again they move Cummings to right back. He never will be or has been a right back......

Sharrowblade that top picture: it looks scarily as if the goalkeeper is communicating with his defence...are you sure that's Long?!?! :D
