From yesterday that was as perfect a performance I've seen in years and finally the players are putting a shift in. To say we could have had 10 was no exaggeration- -against a team above us as well.

We must pay whatever it costs to buy EEL.

Wilder said there'd be no 'fannying' -about and since August he's kept his word bringing in Moore and EEL and dropping the weak links rather than Adkins who threatened changes but then stuck with the same shit.

If we play like yesterday in the majority of our games we will be there or thereabouts in May.

Someone said yesterday I'd been a 'negative ' poster on here -I'd argue I've reflected the club which for over half a decade has under achieved.

If the players put in a shift like yesterday that's all I ask.

Wilder 'gets it' and could easy become a legend.

Cant remember the last time we dominated a game like that, also its refreshing to see us score a handful.
It frustrates me when we are on top then decide to go on the defence and start holding onto the ball near the corner flag, with 20 minutes to go. I hope them days are over and we start seeing more of yesterday.

One of the highlights of the day yesterday was raving at half time about how good we was in the first half, waxing lyrical after the match in the Beer Engine about how good we had been, and walking back to the station still buzzing and talking about how we have got a genuine chance of promotion this season.

I'll temper the optimism because a blip will come and the fans have got to stick with the players! But will that level of effort and workrate I'm sure they will.

I was chatting on the kop yesterday with a few lads and we were on about the fitness levels of the whole team, they were still closing down and chasing at 90+ minutes and 4/0 up...

No manager has brought us that since Warnock...

And the defence yesterday were the most organised I've seen them since Morgan played... we were great in all departments yesterday..

And waking up this morning with 'that' feeling!

Fitness is phenomenal at the moment. Coutts has been transformed, Sharpe and Done are burying themselves every game.

The best thing is teams are going to have to outfight us to win. No more rolling over under Wilder.

I think LS it also shows how bad we have been for two years when, we beat port Vale 4-0 and we are going on about it like we have just beaten derby 4-0 to win promotion to the premier league. I dont say this as a criticism in any way, because I wouldn't shut up last night when we went out to celebrate a 60th.birthday, you are right we showed so much commitment and endeavour right to the end and an awful lot of skill, fuckin ell, I'm goin on abart it again.

It's a common gentlemans problem in the morning. Just walk around the house a bit and it should go soft again.

Oh you mean the game? Yes I was happy this morning too :)
No chance TD. I'm staying exactly where I am until Mrs Greasy wakes up.
It's more about opportunity than romance when you get to my age mate ;)

I think the credit must go to those few heroes on here who managed to pinpoint that all our problems were down to people complaining and not getting behind the team
Looks like their sustained campaign of unwavering optimism has won the day

The new signings ,manager and the fact the players are trying now could also be a factor

I wonder who that could have been? ;)

That was the main thing I noticed yesterday.

Normally when we score we automatically try to consolidate and the opposition have no choice but to attack more. But at 1-0 we were still fired up pushing for 2-0 and Vale had no choice but to continue defending in numbers. At the beginning of the 2nd half Vale were more postive but we were pressing so well and pushing them back thst again they were forced to defend in numbers in the 2nd half too. We kept the foot on the gas and didn't ease up.

I almost felt sorry for Port Vale who were outclassed.

It's rare you see us dominate a full 90 minutes like that.
It will be interesting to see if that was a one-off or can we produce similar performances.

This. I yearn for the days when we muller small teams at home and not think much of it, as though it is expected in a way, as it should be. But we have sunk so low in recent years that it's natural to want to make the most of any highs.

Onwards and upwards Barney, whats happened has happened lets just hope the future is going to be exciting, success has to start somewhere, lets hope this is it.

One or two who looked dodgy when they first arrived have all shown signs of improvement of late, Chapman, Lafferty & Hussey to name 3. Keep it up lads. Anyone know how Lafferty is ?, looked like a knock that could keep him out for Tuesday at least.

Wilder said something on his interview yesterday that it was just a precaution, tightening hamstrings? But should be ok

What a difference a year makes.

Last October I was at Vale Park witnessing one of the most inept shambolic performances it's been my misfortune to see from a Blades team. I was in the home end with Vale supporting in law and his mates having the pee taken over my laughing stock of a team's attempts to pass a ball to one of our players or even make a tackle.

One year on, he's sat with me in our end at the Lane and we delivet the league performance of several seasons, and it's my turn to dish out the stick...mercilessly, and well into the early hours

Int footy a great game? :)

Not when your'e fucking 62 tears of age it isn't you lucky young whippersnapper. I never thought I'd see the day when I had to will the thing to work!

I really don't think fitness has as much to do with it as people think. Adkins will have had them doing just as much work.

We're just picking players who are mobile and cover the ground. But for players like Coutts I'm certain it's more in their head. Enjoyment, confidence and team spirit will do a lot more than laps around Shirecliffe.

Either way, credit ultimately goes to Wilder.

Yes there was, wasn't there? It's good to know I'm not the only one who thinks the most essential ingredient of all is not peripheral to "putting in a shift..."
