Fleck was 10/10 in the first half.

Good in the second half too.

Showing what a good player he is.

Not a difficult choice for MOTM.

Good to hear Fleck is settling into the club and system.

Quality footballer, and one who can go up the leagues as we do hopefully. Not many players have impressed and stood out as opponents in L1....this lad has.

Fleck was brilliant. In saying that though, Coutts just kept thing ticking & kept recycling the ball, letting Fleck go on & play.

Really classy midfield performance all round.

Definitely Fleck for me. Coutts and EEL just behind

Fleck for me too. Can't think of an individual performance better than that in years.

That said, Duffy, Ebanks-Landell and Coutts were all excellent too.

Fleck. But about four or five could have won MOTM on any other day.

On Fleck how good to see a player we saw play so well elsewhere coming to United and finding that form here, hasn't always happened as we know.

Picking out one player would almost certainly be harsh on everyone else (for me), everyone played their part, a real team winning performance.

Fleck's best game, without a doubt, Duffy's best?, possibly, Coutts gets more assured with each game, Freeman made a couple of important tackles, the back line were composed, EEL won everything in the air and O'Connell did some great, simple, defending, just stuck his foot in the way of a shot, ball goes out for their throw in, we regroup, ready to go again.

Matty and Billy worked hard up front, young Harry and Scougs added pace as the game wore on.

More importantly (for me at least) everyone wanted to score, no one was dithering, panicking, scared to shoot, looking to lay off the ball, every Blade on the pitch wanted to score.

Long may that continue!

UTB!

EEL, Fleck, Coutts, in that order. All close.

They were all really good today.

Struggling to pick one.

I think EEL was flawless. Didn't make a mistake all game, won everything in the air, stood up a couple of times to players running at him (one lad bounced off him after getting challenged). Scored twice.

Normally it would be an absolute no brainer, but Fleck was immense. Had the game that we were promised Baxter would one day have and by rights should've been on the score sheet too.

On the basis that Fleck's goal should have stood, I think that makes the gap up for me and I'll let him have this one.

Honestly though, the team were outstanding as both individuals and as a unit. Even the subs all made a solid impact on the game.

One little thing from Fleck....something which we haven't seen often but shows his quality.

Third goal, their corner, defensive header drops into space in our box. Fleck reacts to go for the ball...and this is the crucial thing and that little bit of something that stands players like him out above others.......before he gets to the ball he quickly looks forward and around at what is on, and in that split second knew EXACTLY what he was going to do.
Carried the ball forward with pace and assurance....drew the defender with the help of Duffy knowing full well he was creating space for Sharp and releasing a perfect pass at the exact right moment.

He is credited with nothing for that goal officially due to a combination of slack finish and good defending but he was the sole architect in that goal. Top class.

no question for me - Fleck - dictated the whole tempo, closely followed by numerous others.

Some may disagree - centre midfield dictates the way any team play - have seen it now numerous times from United.

Carry on like this and everyone else is playing for 2nd place.

Agree with that and would also give Lafferty some praise for that goal because he made a lung busting run to keep up with Fleck and give him options on either side to overload Vale. Lafferty never touched the ball in that move but he too played a vital role

Wow how nice this is now a struggle to answer. I think you've got to give it EEL for the two goals, but a very special mention to Fleck how finally had a great game in red and white and also Done and Duffy who I thought played out of their skin all game.

Can't really argue with any of these posts but feel I should mention Jake Wright. First time I have seen him play but immensely impressed with what he brings to the team in terms of organisation calmness and his ability to read the game. May be not quite an MOTM candidate with all the others being put forward who were SO outstanding but immense in his own way.

Best performance I have seen since Southampton?

The player that impressed me today was Duffy.

Good awareness and passing but also capable of dribbling past his man.
Never knew he was that good. Looks real quality.

Also thought the back 3 as a unit were (as they say in America) awesome.
The Port Vale attack never stood a chance and almost gave up.

Moore had 1 proper save to make in the whole match.
