The 'who boycotted the Leicester game but is going tonight' thread

Where does all the money go when you buy a ticket for this competition?

Does the away side get any of it?
 



Really don't understand the anger towards it ,the league cup was a fucking boring competition dying a death in the early rounds. At least with this you get to look at good up and coming youngsters ,from the premier league and ourselves. wilder can experiment without too much pressure and our young players can learn from playing bigger teams. Leicester had some multi-million pound players against us and it helped our players playing against them. It was played with much more freedom than the league cup and was an entertaining game. It also provided a lift off for our season defining the way we could play after the Oxford game. really don't get the pride in not going to the game ,don't go if you don't want but why all the posturing about not going to a game

It only needed tweaking. Ideally it would only be open for 2/3 weeks and you'd be able to loan any player until January - the 93 day limit was stupid. After that 2/3 week period only emergency short term loans should be allowed.

Emergency loans are a joke. We go on about Ched Evans costing us promotion but the sigining of Antonio by the Pigs on an emergency loan was also a big factor in us losing out. They would never have got so many points without him. That was an "Emergency Loan". What was the emergency? There wasn't one.

Loans distort competition. They create conflicts of interest.

The number of players you can loan in should be cut right back, and the number of players you can loan out should be too.

Many people think it's the thin end of the wedge for reserve teams in the football league and/or reducing the lower divisions to vassal status. That's why people are angry.
 
Serious question
As I've said I'm not particularly in favour of this competition but if we are in it I want to win it.
How many of those who are so critical of it would watch United, either on TV or live if we got to the final?

such as chelsea have around 30 out on loan , they actually loan out more than we have in our squad
such is the distortion brought about by those greedy bastards taking all the tv money

all new rules are for the beeifit of those with the money
we just doff our caps and lick their boots now

It's not the league cup though sitwell, it's the Mickey mouse paint pot trophy.

I'm all up for us trying to win the league cup, some of the games in our run to the semis in 03 were great. Shame we already got bombed our of that one.

We had the same opportunity to loan players. We should've signed Antonio himself that season at two different times, but we didn't bother. We did get Matt Phillips for a month though. We also got Hoskins - it's our fault we didn't choose better.

It's not ideal how the odd short term loan player here and there can have a significant long term impact, but it doesn't justify binning the loan window, as the benefits still outweigh it comfortably.

I also think the rule that league 1 and 2 clubs must field 6 of the players that played the previous game is also getting fans backs up.

I think it's disgusting that there are some of those clubs with about 18 to 20 professionals on their books and they're expected to field almost the same side in every game while the premier league clubs get to rotate and play virtual reserve sides in League Cup and FA Cup games is frankly insulting.

If I were McCabe, I'd say 'f*ck it, Chris just play the kids and we'll take the fine'. B0ll0X to them I say.

I would go normally, I have said every season I'd like to see us win it. But I'm doing a complete boycott of it this season.

I would watch the final on TV, as I would watch any United game on TV if I wasn't at it. There's no way I'd watch us playing at Wembley in this competition though.
 
The atmosphere is electric inside the stadium :)
 
It's so condescending of the FL/PL to think our support of our clubs is in some way less than Prem fans. By sending Prem B teams and not allowing us to reciprocate by playing a junor 11 is at best insulting to us and the club's we support.
 
Losing 1-0 at half time, poor defending for their goal, Reece Brown mishit a clearance. To be fair he has put in a few quality centres.
 
I can't be arsed with / am boycotting tonight but freely admit that I'll be the first one moaning about how unfair the loyalty points system is in six months when I'm struggling to get a ticket for the big Wembley final against Blackburn U23s.

Same as the Leicester game, I've gone down to the Lane for the programme tonight then came straight back home. At around 7.40pm it didn't look particularly busy on John Street (only stand open).

Never liked this competition, a lot less so since this dreadful Prem reserve team thing. Only been to one since the drop down to tier 3 in 2011 and that was 'away' at Rotherham at the DVS. In it's first ever season as a competition (no final at Wembley then) saw us v Rotherham (a), Bradford (h) and Scunny (a) and the single season down here under Bassett did Chester (h) and Wrexham (a). Might, just might go to Grimsby in the next game.
