Upon seeing Withe celebrate his first goal like it was the FA Cup final, my dad walked out of the ground that day and sat in the car waiting for us to come out after the game. He never watched Withe in a Blades shirt again. What about the home game v Birmingham? Roger Hansbury was on loan from Birmingham to us, Peter Withe on loan from us to Birmingham, scored two goals for them and celebrated in front of the Kop in his one and only decent performance at Bramall Lane. Then a couple of weeks later he was back playing for SUFC as if nothing had happened.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for the 1990 promotion video. I own 100 years 100 goals, and I have the "United" series but never bought Harry's Game, so it was a terrific trip down memory lane. I saw all the home games that year (plus the Barnsley away game) but I haven't seen many of the goals since then, TV coverage being scant at the time.
2. Somewhere on youtube is highlights of the first leg of the Bristol City playoff with Alan Walsh's winner and United going close a couple of times. Paul Williams' dreadful miss from the second leg is also on a club video somewhere.
I'll have to keep an eye out for those. If anyone can help...
Think I've found it...
Will edit later.
1. It's remarkable how many times John Gannon picks up a loose ball when a corner is cleared and does something useful with it. Despite this he was mercilessly barracked early in the season, culminating in ironic cheers when he was injured at home to Swindon. Bassett complained about it in the press and it stopped. Nice goal from Gannon v Bradford.

Great goal by Morris in the Play Off second leg. Still, what a crappy season.
The new footage on the video above is our away win at Hull in February 1988 (9:30 onwards). Watching that it is hard to see the pre-Sky glory days people talk about.

We averaged 9,992 that season in the second tier. Seems unthinkable now.
