We never give any potentially good partnerships a chance, well never more than one game anyway. Same with youngsters.

As I said on the other thread, McNulty offers something none of the other strikers do - skill, creativity and the ability to fashion a chance for himself. You don't get rid of a player like that when you aren't scoring goals. He's also younger than all of them apart from DCL, considerably younger than Clarke and Sharp who will both need replacing eventually. With that in mind we should be thinking about a new contract for him, and he'll only sign one if he's still here and getting game time.

While we know McNulty can score goals, can he score them in the system that Wilder wants to play? Look at Sharp under Blackwell, he could score goals for fun at other clubs but under Blackwell it didn't work, maybe it is the same with McNulty under Wilder.

If he was good enough that we should be looking to keep him long term, then why are teams in the Championship not chasing him? Or why do Portsmouth not seem interested in taking him back for their League 2 campaign?

Signing a CB and not a CM is just stupid.
Basham is useless in MF , but seems CW has fallen in love , so keep him Chris but as a CB.
THEN SIGN A PROMOTION-WINNING CM.

CB is absolutely vital. A proper dominating, ball-winning centre-half. Not making do with nearly man Basham. We need both, but the overriding priority is the defender.

Sounds very hoof to me. personally would like a CB with some guile, pace and who can bring the ball out, to play alongside O'Connell or Wright.

I haven't seen this McNulty lad. The one we've got has scored a few goals, without being prolific; his first touch is a mere estimate and, when he's not scoring goals (which is the majority of games) we play with ten men, such is his anonymity.

I want the one you've got...

That's O'Connell. As we saw second half against Oxford. Even Bobby Moore needed a Jack Charlton.

You tippy-tappy types need to acquire a bit of pragmatism...

He doesn't have a bad first touch at all and is technically better than any of the other strikers. Better at dribbling, better at passing, better at shooting, and he has a good goals to games ratio with us.

Well 2 of them have had several seasons to do so and haven't done yet.

Indeed, but we haven't seen a fully fit and committed Paul Coutts. I believe we will now. Certainly, it's his last chance with us. We haven't seen the best of Fleck either, or if we have, we've signed the wrong player! I accept Basham isn't good enough, but maybe in a "three" with the others?

He has a terrible first touch. You are overlooking the fact that I am not guessing. I've seen him play.

You won't have seen him play any more than me. He doesn't have a bad first touch. He takes a ball in his stride better than any of the others. Maybe you're thinking of him often losing the ball with his back to goal on the halfway line when he's had little support around him. What I say about his passing, dribbling and shooting is undeniable. None of the others are good at any of those.

Ok, Ricky. You can have him when Bradford have done with him.

That's football.

He is behind Sharp,and others.

I wish him well and expect him to do OK up there.

UTB

His attitude is obviously wank.

There's a reason Clough never really liked him, Adkins didn't fancy him now Wilder has got shut.
We've got rid of the 'boozers' in McNulty, Adams, Baxter and McGahey. Coincidence?

He's now also that bit closer to Scotland and his apparently nobheaded entourage. Is Bradford ready for his jumper covered shoulder shenanigans? Only time will tell.

Good luck to him, seems a fairly decent lad with nobheads for mates (and a Dad). Don't really see what he does on the pitch, decent finisher but Sharp is better and Lavery is quicker.

If his shooting is better than every other striker we have then how come Billy Sharp scored 20 goals in 44 League One games last year where McNulty scored only 10 in 27 League Two games last year?

I don't see the fascination with him, he only ever looked a good player coming off the bench when he was fresh and other players were showing signs of fatigue.

Since when has goalscoring only been down to shooting ability?

This had me chuckling pinchers. :D

I hope they have put in the contract that he can't play against us in October, surely even we can't be that daft, I mean we wouldn't give anyone to a rival team in the same league now would we? Nah!
Think it's a rule now that you can't play against your parent club ,just as well !

Well... Unlike my mate who once knobbed the ball in to the net then I would be confident in saying that the greater one's shooting ability, the more likely one is to score goals.

What's his statue like in The Legends of the Lane museum? I must have missed it when I went.
