There is also the possibility of Maguire still going to Boro, likely to be around 8m which will raise the pot further. dividends to directors

If we sell him and then go and sign someone like Matt Green I'll be fucking livid.

Only an acceptable sale if we get a good fee and use that fee to bring in quality signings - including a central midfielder.

But at this late stage it's unlikely we'd be able to re-invest as we'd like to, in which case it shouldn't be entertained whatsoever.

If he goes we won't reinvest we never do, same pattern every year, we clearly need to bring in 2-3m in player sales each year why not just come out and say it.

I've heard Everton upped their bid to when Man U showed some interest, I reckon that's why he's not been playing, so he doesn't get injured if one of the big boys actually stump up for him.

What exactly is it that's made him so highly rated?
Probably the fact he's been one of the best players through the ages in the youth system, hasn't quite kicked on at first team level yet, but I have absolutely no doubts he will and will be a very good player. Needs to bulk up a little bit so he doesn't get knocked of the ball as easy and needs to gain more composure, both you'd assume would come with age and experience.

I got in the ground early last Saturday and watched the players practice shooting into the dummy net. DCL's attempts were utterly lamentable. Like Reed, we must realise they'll never make it - at least not with United.

Same here but he is very fast I noticed. Don't think he will make it above our level personally.

Funny that DCL and Adams aren't good enough for a club fucking about in 3rd Division but are for 2nd Division and 1st Division.

This. Same went for Jordan Slew when Blackburn took him,

Everton and Man Utd, pfft I heard it was Juventus... Seriously, has this lad got the same agent as our old friend Diego? Not a prayer he'll be going straight to the top level, if he leaves he'll be loaned out to L2.

But Everton can take that Gamble, 1.5 Mil is not a lot to them, if he does not make it, oh well the gamble did not pay off, if he makes it they sell him for 5 - 6 Mil then its a good return, My guess is that if we take a gamble put him in the first team and it does not work, he will have the fans on his back and little or no chance of redemption as we have a reputation of not giving players a second chance, Long being the recent example of the player feeling the wrath and unpleasantness of a select group of our Fans.

We've sold Adams, surely we don't need to get rid of another promising youngster? McNulty has gone too so more wages off the bill.

Really don't get the hype on dcl. Of the young players to come through recently he'd be towards the bottom of the pile i'd expect to be attracting interest from above.

Reed, long, whiteman all looked ok better prospects based on what I'd seen. It wasn't like he was scoring goals when he played for us last year.

Having said that id be more than happy if he stayed and got established - think it would do his career more good then rotting in the pl reserves

Are you talking about DCL or DDG?

Ok I am joking, but you can see my point, you could have written that for Diego and it would not have sounded out of place a year or so ago.

Whenever I watched the youth team, Diego stood out as being a class above everyone else on the pitch (our team and the opposition), yet it was Reed, Dimaio, Khan who were getting on to our bench and getting some game time.

I am not saying anything bad about DCL, just saying that players sometimes take a long time to mature and improve, and time is not something we have much of, if we are really serious of getting out of Division 3.

People often forget that he barely played as a striker until he was 17. He's been used as an attacking midfielder throughout his development until getting near the first team. Very odd.
