Match reaction thread, this will be unlocked post-match and is for all reactions to this afternoons fixture.

Lack of ability is forgivable, lack of commitment isn't. First half it was missing, second it was there.
This league will once again be competed for by bang average teams. Those with commitment and desire will be up there fighting to get out.
Oh... and if we're going to pick Done. ...play him down the middle.

Nothing to get carried away with but a win! Desperately needed for Wilder and the players - looked second best for large spells in the first half and too many long balls coming to nothing still - great work rate from Scoogs and Done, Bash put a shift in too - Billy well done for getting the goal but a passenger again for most of the game - nice to have a weekend when we win!! UTB's

Bit disappointed in the fact he bollocked Done for shooting shortly before and then completely failed to acknowledge the cross for his goal.
Was noticed by us too. Really in Done's face for the failed pass moments earlier, but never looked his direction to at least acknowledge the excellent cross.
Really odd behaviour on Sharps part...

Positives

Some nice attacking play at times , quick short passes.

Passion in second half

Wright snrs leadership

Freeman

Oconnell at lb

Scougall

Duffy second half

Sharp getting off the mark

Scoring from a set piece

Clarke as an impact player not a starter like was planned

New players hearing what a happy lane sounds like

Negatives

Midfield losing runners

Lack of shots on target second half

Pig last minute equaliser

Looking forward to CW's post-match interview :)
Radio Sheffield said Chris Wilder had given them advance notice that he wouldn't be doing the post-match interviews if we won because he didn't want to be seen to be rubbing his former club's nose in it. They interviewed Alan Knill who said Wilder only told him this after the match.

Maybe it's just me, but all the fuss and nonsense about NOT celebrating a goal/win against a former club shows a lack of respect for the club you're now with and the supporters who want you to win.

I'll let it slip by this once, but should Billy Sharp not celebrate if he scores against Scunthorpe United, i'd wanna know why?

Three points is a start, we progress.

If that's the case, I'm disappointed by his decision. I'd have liked to have heard him.
He's set a precedence now, bet he'll do the same again when we play Northampton.

Such a Relief to finally get 3pts because as i was saying what ever was bigger than must win today was it. It Night & day from the Southend horror show. Bar defensive ball watching for oxford goal. I thought it was a great dominant performance. Because like bolton 1st half & crewe we were by far the better team just had bad luck. Waiting for it to turn. Credit to team that they didnt collapse after conceding. Kept at it but great as the crowd was, showing restraint after the setback. I was wondering at Half Time if some people just like to boo for the sake of it. Because yes we were behind but how some people can boo after the 1st half is beyond me

Also No offence to Long, i liked him i feel long kept us in more games than he cost us. But obviously we remember the mistakes more. But 1st impressions of Simon moore seeing him live. I feel securer & have more confident with him in net with Moore than i did with Long last few months

Evening all. First time poster.
Watched the forums for a while and thought I'd contribute.
For me there was an improvement today in a lot of areas.
First off. A keeper who communicates with his back 4!!!!
Wright and Wilson looked steady and Wright did a good job of marshalling the defence.
Freeman did well. Got forward when he could and defended reasonably well when needed with the exception of the yellow card incident.
Hussey. Terrible again!! Kept tucking in when defending and leaving space for their winger and his set pieces???? Oh dear!! O'Connell much better.
Scougall contender for man of match and Duffy grew into the game.
Bash had his best game for months and coutts kept things ticking over.
Sharp and Done worked quite well together.
The noticeable thing for me was that we pressed quite well and there was some good movement. Hope it is a sign that things are picking up.

Not good enough, we should have been 12-0 up at half time. Wilder out!

Just a small gripe, and I'll stand corrected if I've got this completely wrong or its been pointed out elsewhere but, which smart arse thought it'd be a good idea for us to come out to "Club Foot" ?

Idiot in front of me just slagged them off all game ,his highlight was 'send the cunt off' at Billy Sharp when he had a set to in the first half ,which his son (about 8) told him to stop. I know it was the first half because he went at half time taking the Mrs and kid with him

Must admit I agree that this is a bizarre policy on Wilder's part not to interview adter the win just because it's a former club. Considering the 'getting sacked in the morning' chant from them I would have thought he might enjoy changing his mind and rubbing the cheeky f*****s noses in it after the match?

That being said I enjoyed Knill's interview on RS, in fact I always enjoy his interviews and wouldn't mind hearing him more often. I think Chris struggles to keep his emotions in check sometimes.

Got to say when Oxford scored against the run of play & started being cocky t***s winding wilder up. Made the 3pts even more sweeter. When our pressure told

sitwell does amaze me some fans like i was saying. Will always be unhappy

Sharp scored today, that means we can sell him next week...

I'm following this from the States at the minute, so can't read every thread. Could someone clarify if Sharp is in everyone's good books again following his goal, or do we still need to get rid of him asap? Ta.
