Get fucking Steve Evans in before The season turns into a relegation battle

Evans is a top manager in my view but so is Wilder. If we get 3 points next week we'll all see things differently.

We are a patient lot as you very well know . it's Wilder who does the ranting , which just rubs off on all .

The players are shell shocked , like us , Wilder , club.

Piss poor players brought in to replace piss poor players , that's the root cause .

If any of that back 4 were the recommendation of the new scout bloke , he wants sacking .

Long way to go before first 3 points .

I think its early to call the signings crap mate. Some will come off some won't. If we get around 70% right we'll be doing well. So far Duffy is the big disappointment for me I had hoped he would be skinning people and setting up chances for others, but he seems to be rarely involved so far. O'Connell is another who is clearly not hit the ground running but its 4 games mate, and when a team starts losing peoples confidence drops and it becomes a negative atmosphere where people start to doubt themselves. One win and we'll see different performances from many. I don't rate Oxford much so lets see if we can beat them next week.

Well we're screwed but I don't think it will be that way mate.

As a few posters have already said - the good ones have already been signed.

Perhaps CW is playing a patient game and waiting for August 31st at 11pm so as to get a few ex champ players at 2 bob a week.

or perhaps he needs the JCL money first

Every bastard year we have to pull out unlikely references. "Look at Norwich when they lost 7-1 at home" "look at Barnsley last year" "look at Southampton that year"

Why can't we just win a few bastarding games and not have to reach for these one off miracle examples.

Seriously Chris? Blaming long as well? Looks to me that CW not wanting to blame any of HIS signings and trying to get rid of all other players to bring in only his, God helps us if the rest are like what's already come in.

So here we are after getting rid of last seasons dross, we find the club bottom of League One after the worst start to a season in ten years. We have only once in our entire history been in a lower position than this. We have a manager untried at this level who is showing no signs that he can cope, half of the team which he has signed showing no signs that they can cope at this level, WTF is happening?
Wilder in his interview looks like a tramp in a suit who as aged 10 years in a month ................... try some Grecian 2000 and get a shave you scruffy looking cunt and ditch the suit for some training gear and get those useless cunts you call players on the training ground at sunrise in the morning, show some character because there is non in that team, soft as wet shit the lot of em, fook their weekend up as they do ours and then on Monday get some hard nut players signed right through the spine of the team. If McCabe will not fund it you may as well walk away now because this present lot will without a shadow of doubt take us down to league two.
I don't blame Wilder and I don't blame the players too much because as a club we have no leadership from the top. All summer we have been fannying about unable to bring in players until after some have been released or sold. Despite the bleating of McCabe's apologists we have missed out on players that would have improved us and are now left scraping the barrel to plug holes in a already very poor squad all compounded by selling the only talent and potential we had a few weeks before the window slams shut. A competent owner would have made funds available to get the players we wanted in and then sold to get the money back as ever we do things the other way and are left scratching around for the crumbs that fall off the table. We are like the drunk with a pocket full of £20's who rolls up to the brothel only to find it's shut. Desperate desperate times :(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(

Haven't been, listened on BP and just listened to Wilder's interview on RS. There's a lot of stammering and he repeats himself endlessly throughout and is clearly in a bad place and very shaken. He isn't shirking how poor the start has been, takes responsibility for the Brayford loan (wouldn't throw Brayford under a bus) which is to his credit. He lists an awful lot of things he has to do to get a team that performs and when he does he sounds quite daunted by what he has still to do. Let's face it - dealing with the consequences of the Clough/Adkins regimes and operating within the toxic chaos that is Bramall Lane at the moment is a modern Herculean task that would challenge anyone. I get the impression he is beginning to doubt himself and, if so, this is really bad news.

Given the way he came across in the interview I don't think it is entirely a bad thing that he hasn't vented at the players after the match. Giving them (and him) the weekend to reflect may turn out to be the best thing to focus the mind of him and the players. The players need to take some responsibilty for getting us out of the hole we are in. Wilder has to lead for sure, but the players have to step up. From what Wilder said it sounds more and more that Brayford went for financial reasons which suggests the purse strings have very much been tightened and he is operating on budget constraints and ceilings far lower than previous seaons (especially Clough) and suggests he has little room for maneuvre. Clearly there were players out there today who were not "in the group" pre-season, but who, because of circumstances, he will have to turn to.

Changing the manager is not a universal fix all. The problems at the club run far deeper and simply changing the manager won't change them. I would suggest that one of the reasons we are in the turmoil we are in is the Board's willingness to throw managers under a bus too easily when things get rough. In truth I think Wilder is an honorable man who cares about the club and he will jump before he is pushed. And where would that leave us?

I think we have to reign in our expectations for this season sadly. I hope I am wrong and we can challenge in the top half of the table but I suspect this season will be more getting rid of the crap and the poison and rebuilding a team that can survive in this division this season and challenge next. Even in that I have little confidence unless things change.

Its a bleak evening and looking at a League table with us rooted at the bottom with the worst goal difference is thoroughly depressing. Our only hope is that the players play for the shirt and the supporters support the shirt or I fear we are in for a very rough season.

Avoiding the confrontation in his position is not the answer, a more Warnockesque reaction was required but maybe Wilder doesn't have it in him.
Do you really think Warnock went steaming in after every defeat ? Also Bassett balled players out,but sometimes and that includes Warnock and Bassett
managers have to take a different path an d circumstances dictate that.Wilder is a very experienced manager and if on this occasion he takes a different route than I'm sure he has good reason for that.Confidence and beleaf will be at a premium after a poor start and he now has the task of rectifying that with these players ( and hopefully a few more signings ) with the majority being his players.
The players now have to show some balls ( we fans can help by showing a bit of patience ) the alternative is a season of struggle ,do we really want that ?.There is time to put it right cloughs first season proved that,we have to back Wilder and his squad the alternative doesn't bare thinking about.

Unbelievable what I am reading, hope to god know one else but our fickle little fans read this forum.
It is aimed at our fickle fans who seem to be ruling the roost at present!
Good job churchill and Co didn't flinch when the chips were down otherwise I and many more blades wouldn't be here ( I have used the war situation before in a post and I think it shows we have to stay strong and beleave we can come through. ).

Two nice posts Finlay....but it's believe and belief.
Sorry, but I'm a bit OCD and that spelling is like fingernails down a friggin' blackboard.

a lot did actually . they were conveniently written out of the history.
a point well made though.

I'm one of them that defends fans that boo when we're shit. Don't have a problem with anybody letting George Long know he's fucked up. It doesn't keep me awake at night if the naughty boys shout and swear at the players when they aren't doing it but lorks a fucking lordy, I've never seen such an overreaction.

It's not Wilders fault he inherited a crap squad, he was nowhere near the club when big nose got us relegated, or when Robson......well, fuck knows what Robson did. Blackwell, Speed, Adams etc. again, nowt to do with Wilder.

He came to manage the club he loves, the one that's currently in division 3 and he'll work his bollocks off to make us better. He doesn't have a magic wand, he has a McCabe pulling the purse strings and we know how that goes so give him a break.

Why didn't he go in the changing room? He's a fan as well as the manager, and if the fuckers let me down like they did him I'd probably chin one of the lightweight twats, maybe he felt the same.

Some of you bang on about him being scared to face the players? Half of you lot would be scared to face him and open your gob, but you're all fucking bluff and bluster on here.

I'm beginning to change my mind, ALWAYS banged on about us being a bunch of hard cases, taking no shit, looks like we're getting a MASSIVE fanny rating now 'cos half of you are acting like c***s.

I'd imagine he didn't go in the changing room because he has some tough decisions to make and didn't want to rock the boat without more thought.
Like when you get an email that offends or annoy you. Draft a reply, don't send it and come back later to fine tune it when the utter emotions gone.
As far as dealing with peopleWilders a tough cookie. Hopefully he can deal with the issues he's got, including his signings who are having no impact whatsoever.

Thats the kind of Comment we can do without Highfield, where's your!! Churchill spirit !!, If that's how you feel better you stay away and leave it to the fans who will get behind the 18 man squad we will have.
Cant help thinking with your approach to independent thought and opinion you'd have been much happier if the other lot had won.....

Twitter... "Signings struggling to cope...."

I think the manager is STRUGGLING to cope more than the players.
The manager is the leader, if he can't lead, how can the players be expected to follow.
Blindly? Hoping that it might work?

Lots of football between today and end of September....
If the atmosphere is bad today and there's little significant improvement,
they'll all be struggling to cope... even more so.

Wonder if he regrets not going to Charlton Athletic?

Cant weigh it up......at Northampton no one was being paid for months ,but he still managed to win games and get promotion. I think he will turn it round .............................if he is still here

I'm confused how people think running away from the problem for two days is good management or leadership.

The team is a mess and leaderless. The last thing you want to do is just abandon them after a bad game. (and I note no Sunday training)

If you can;t control your temper 4 games in you're going to have problems.

Nothing to lose.
No pressure.
If they lost, they could always fall back on the "no money" excuse.

Different here. Much different. More pressure. More expectation(s).
He knew that.
