The board have fucked about so much in the past 3 seasons with sacking managers and changing players, that we are now where we are. No one else to blame. We have a manager who looks like a rabbit trapped in the headlights, and players who are plainly not good enough (the thing which worries me most about them is a total lack of heart). This is all down to a negligent, absent and basically clueless board. Well I'd just like to say congratulations, a pig fan couldn't have fucked it up any better!!

I don't think it's a lack of heart I just don't think they are any good.

The board have reaped what they sewed with the player sales and poor managerial appointments and that's why we are where we are.

I agree, probably a bit harsh there. Just completely fucked off with the twats that run SUFC.

Hang on....don't recall many on here having huge doubts about the players brought in so far. Don't recall many desperate to keep Clough or Adkins, seem to remember everyone giving Wilder huge credit for booting out dross....

Perhaps Hussey had some shadows due to him coming from Bury....but the rest everyone was very happy with. Only 2 weeks ago the vast majority was confident we had added quality, and had a bit more to come in.

All of a sudden, we sell Adams, Loan out Brayford and for one game turn to players deemed surplus to requirements. We have a very poor start and bottom....and the nooses are thrown over the landing!

So do you think this side isn't relegation material??

Inter, were you happy with clough, adkins and Wilder when first appointed? I was, like I think most people were.

Yes I was mate. The big difference is that I'm not in charge of putting a structure in place to take the club forward. Letting Clough sign all those players was criminal, as was letting Adkins sign Woolford and Hammond (especially after the initial failed loan spell). Year on year we sell one of our better players and replace them with dross. Alex Ferguson couldn't achieve anything with this board behind him. They are the common denominator in all our failings.

Once the board put a new manager in charge they, in my opinion let him bring in his own staff and then after discussing budgets and ambition of the club let him get on with it because the board dont know any more than say us? as fans? So they, to a certain extent let them get on with it, God forbidded if we were to here that mccabe was getting involved in player recruitment, then we really could have a go, but for me clough and adkins failed, and if you fail off you go,harsh but its what happens in football, Wilder? we will see, just my opionion pal, not having a go.but I think its the managers and coaches to blame firstly.

Inter...let's be right.

Money has been spent. Granted, the issue for the most part was interference from board level with signings, instead of leaving one person to it.
But managers have been given money. The fear is that with this one he's trying to do the right thing but our board are too slow to get business done.

My point is that the board appoint these managers. Any failures are purely down to them. Its the same in any business. You appoint a manager and back him. If you've appointed the right one, he buys the right players and you get promoted. If you appoint the wrong one then you are to blame.

The players he's signed already look very poor. Early days, but Hussey and Wilson do not look anywhere near the level required. I'll reserve judgement until after the transfer window, but from what I've seen up to yet, these players are worse than the ones we've released. This is down to the manager and ultimately the board. A big 2 weeks ahead, we cannot afford anymore mistakes in the transfer window.

Hindsight is great though isn't it Inter.

Point out anyone who said any of these new players were worse than the ones released or put on the list.
The manager....his assistant who have experience Beyond you and I, all thought they were good enough for this club.

So far, these players have had 4 games maximum to be derided as worse than players who fucked up over 2-3 seasons in the most part...and at least 20 games.

So let's get a bit of perspective. Class is permanent, form temporary.
Not saying these lads are class....but they are more than good enough for league 1. Form is shot, confidence underground and we need a little run of results....clean sheets would be a start.

It doesn't matter what the fans think though Grizzly. You ask fans about players and you'd have 10,000 different ideas. Its up to the board and more importantly the manager/his staff to choose the right players. Early days, but the players are being derided as they are showing to be worse than the previous players. If they go on a 10 game unbeaten run then they will get praise, but for now they have been shite and are being rightly lambasted (manager included). Its the nature of the beast.

Time has proven that the likes of Clough and Danny Wilson did decent jobs. To be honest I am not a fan of sacking managers and would have given both Clough and Adkins another season. Starting over with a new manager every season does not work, not when the squad is so far off. Its no longer a case of "get promotion or else" we are going backwards and need a 2-3 year plan, 2-3 years of good recruitment. We need exciting upcoming players, but we buy the same player 3 times. We buy players in decline, as opposed to buying rising players. We should be attracting the best players at lg 1 and below, as we are the big club at this level. Decisions made at board level have been poor for many years, thats how we ended up in league 1 in the first place.

Imagine living in a time when we judged our new signings on the players they replaced, Currie, Woodward, Dearden, Edwards, Beattie, Walker, Naughton etc etc..

Now we are judging our new signings on the likes of Hammond, Sammon, McEveley, Long....

That would depress any Blade. No matter what era.

I'd certainly not have sacked Wilson or Clough, but Adkins would have needed a chairman with big balls to retain him after last season.

Jim Phipps said it would take three transfer windows to rectify the squad. A statement I think we should take heed of, not because of his football knowledge, but because of what he knew about our budget, existing contracts, and ability to recruit. By the "three window" reckoning we're looking at next season before we challenge. And to change managers again during this key series of windows would be potentially disastrous.

When you lose your best players to Hull City, Birmingham and Brighton there's no hope for you

And before anybody starts with the "They were a division above us bolox" ask yourselves if we would have taken their best players off them if we were in the Championship and they were in League One
Also ask yourself if we would take Portsmouth's best player off them

hmm not really. they have covered the expenditure with the Che money and the money that will come from JCL and possibly Billy. everyone here agreed we needed to keep four players.. billy, done, che and the beard. two are gone already
