the boardWhy,what is the root cause pat
With all that Che money sloshing around & with Hammond, Woolford & Brayford off the payroll, should be PLENTY of room for incomings.
Agree that 11th in L1 was unacceptable but Wilder has signed some right dross and made us even worse. I would take 11th now.So he should have kept the squad that finished 11th intact? None of those players were and still are not good enough, SUFC finishing in 11th is not acceptable therefore drastic changes had to be made.
Not quite sure how McCabe is to blame here.
Not quite sure how McCabe is to blame here. Or with Adkins or Clough.
We haven`t had a decent keeper since before Simmonson,a decent CH since Harry went, a half decent midfield enforcer since Monty/Doyle and a proper CF since Ched.
I don`t think any of that is in dispute, and I think most Blades would agree that we haven`t,and still don`t have a spine.
That is the managers remit and no-one elses.
Three managers have for reasons I can only attribute to hallugenagenic drugs felt that Long was a GK,we had enough at CB,CM and CF.
Whether Clough,Adkins and Wilder were all piss poor appointments is certainly something that McCabe is responsible for if indeed they were/are.
you've answered yourself mateNot quite sure how McCabe is to blame here. Or with Adkins or Clough.

Give him time FFS, 6 new players at Kick off, many clamoured for new signings, well we have 9 (including the loanee), sometimes they gel quickly, mostly it takes time. Dingles were bottom in NOVEMBER, last season, look what happened there. Hull are top of the Prem, do you think they will win it? no chance. 42 games to go, give them time.Too many out, too many in, its a brand new team. Do you give him time? Or do you change it sooner rather than later? We have an impatient board.
We've sold Adams for £1.75m. Brought in O'Connell (200k?), Moore (let's say 400k, but it was probably less) and Clarke (140k ish) = £740. £1m profit (before sell on clause payment) on transfer fees alone this season. All other signings if I'm not mistaken have been frees, including 1 loan. Not quite sure how McCabe is to blame here. Or with Adkins or Clough.

Even a new side should be performing better! Start Chapman ffs.
Moore decent debut by sounds of it.
Defence sounds appalling.
Billy poor?
Doesn't matter how much money a manager has to spend, it has to be spent wisely. We've sold Adams for £1.75m. Brought in O'Connell (200k?), Moore (let's say 400k, but it was probably less) and Clarke (140k ish) = £740. £1m profit (before sell on clause payment) on transfer fees alone this season. Remains to be seen whether the remaining Adams money will be spent, of course that is doubted. Doubtful that we will even break even on transfer fees alone.
Lack of budget this season has been evident enough, that's McCabe.
It was a massive mistake going into the season with such a suspect defence. That should've been avoided at all costs. We are genuinely incapable of keeping a clean sheet.
FC United of Sheffield anyone?
Hes not going anywhere and neither do i think he should. Clearly early results have been piss poor but it will change. It was better today after the shambles on Tuesday and the new lad in the sticks looks good. Two daft goals given away again today...you wont win if you keep giving soft goals away. Sort the defence out and we may start to edge a few games and get confidence back. If we are still losing every week after 12 games then i might start to get worried. Until then sit tight and ride it out.
No. He was right to get rid. But he shouldn't have signed worse. So he should have kept the squad that finished 11th intact? None of those players were and still are not good enough, SUFC finishing in 11th is not acceptable therefore drastic changes had to be made.
Let's be fair - he's got some serious questions to answer.
- The season has been a car crash so far.
- We've not looked like winning
- The performances bar Bolton have been shite
- His signings havn't made the desired impact.
- tactics haven't been right.
Unless something changes soon, this is going to get seriously ugly. Big 10 days in the transfer market because there are some huge holes.

True, promotion can be achieved on an average budget, it makes it quite a bit tougher though.Doesn't matter how much money a manager has to spend, it has to be spent wisely.
