Potential Brayford replacements

We might have to lose ALL of last season's players to get to where we want to be!

Jordan Clarke isn't big....seen someone say he's tall.

Watched him play a fair bit for Scunny, and one of their best players. Athletic and strong, fairly quick and can deliver a decent ball. Good on the ball, very neat and tidy.

Every time I've seen him said I would like him at the lane!

Would cost at least £600k I reckon.

How about Basham to RB and then bring Morsey into CM ?

Drop Billy and give Mcnuts a run ?

No matter how controversial these changes would be, be sure that CW may have to do this if he wants to be here for a long time.

Makes me wonder if any other first players apart from Long, Brayford and Done knew they are in the mix I can't see them risking hard tackles and injuries from effort in the last few games.

I know it's scary. First words out if CW's mouth when announcing Moore = "we got good value". I would have preferred "we have an absolutely first class keeper now at the heart of our defence".

We got good value meaning he was cheap.
Good, means he didn't spend all the Ché money (or the Murphy, Harry, McDonald, 2xKyle money)

i decided to research the other day why wavara was still a free agent, considering he was in the team of the season.

I poped onto a wigan forum to browse and see if i could see a reason they fidn't sign him. All i found was a list of players who left with a summary of how they left . E.g loan, 300k , free.

Next to wabara it just said "ill" , im wondering uf he has a serious illness. Had a quick look at his carear and he seems to of had a lot of short term contracts.Im not sure wgat the deal is as i didn't find any more information.

Freeman will end up our right back. Worse but cheaper version of Brayford and that fits the current model for the blades.

As long as we sign a central midfielder then Basham at right back will be the worst case scenario, and that's not too bad at all.

Even if it's Freeman but we sign another centre half and keep Basham in midfield, we'll still be stronger than we would've been just keeping Brayford.

If we go with Basham at RB but have signed a CB and a midfielder then we really couldn't complain... as long as they're not shit.

Are people actually happy with Basham or Freeman? Think promotion would be a big ask if so.

More realistic.

Clearly we are struggling to free up wages for signings and this looks like wilder has had to compromise to try and get someone else in. Doubt we'd do that just to replace a rb.

Season rests on getting 2/3 signings in before the window shuts. Current 11 is a long way short

And that is my big worry Bladeinleeds.
Not that Wilder won't know who he wants, but that we now need at least 3 just to be competitive in the first 11 and we only have 10 days to do it.
Now for most clubs, 10 days would be more than enough, but this is Sheffield United....a club that has to pass a test of several different opinions on a player, pass a test with regards cost, and then negotiate to the point of pissing off any player we want before we get to the point of getting them in.

So we desperately need 3....in reality need 4. At best we might get 2.....and will then be left well short until January.
By which time we might be in a relegation scrap, and therefore struggling even more to get players in of the right type, and the right cost. The most likely scenario being we return to spending silly money on crap in desperation....like we did with Adams!

And all this is depending on no more leaving of course!

What a feckin mess this club is in. I don't see a lot of light at the end of the tunnel, just hope that I might find some batteries for my torch to tide me over. If Wilder keeps us up he will have done a decent job...anywhere near play offs will be a miracle.

We won't sign a replacement. We've still not signed the CB or CM Wilder has been after since he joined the club. Kev will point to Freeman and say 'play him' and Freeman will leave us late on deadline day, give us the rods, and leave us til January without a right back.

Maybe he'll use Freeman until he signs a new Centre Back, then move Wilson to Right Back as I know he can play there...Didn't Bash play a game under Clough at Right Back,or part of a game and was shite...For me whoever we out there has a downside,so I'd rather go with Freeman as he is likely to create openings in attacking positions and we need goals..Bash provides gash service from wide areas as he proved when playing wing back under Adkins.
