So, with that firmly in mind, I'd say we should stop blaming the team for being shit and the manager for being left to manage shit. Being as it isn't his decision to sell McDonald, Blackman, Lowton, Murphy, Adams, Maguire et al, and we can be certain he would possibly pick from the list I quickly suggested yesterday, rather than in the bargain and seconds bin, we can be certain that despite assumptions, this club is absolutely broke. It has to be. It may seem outwardly solvent, but the money is going somewhere, and not on the playing talent out on the (new) pitch. And the money generated from footballing streams - transfers, cup runs, television, sponsorship, is also draining away on other matters. I am not suggesting McCabe is a fiddler here ... the books bear that out and I don't classify him as a crook in any way, shape or form - I just don't think we are in any healthy situation set up to meet 20,000 expectations every other Saturday. And with that level of support, that magnitude of expectations and the demonstrable incompetence shown in equipping the team to do what the fans expect him to do, there's only two options ... stay away from the games as a protest or call for his resignation. He isn't going to put more money into the club and we aren't going to get any better as a team. So we aren't in a position to hope for promotion. That is a dire situation for a team with huge historical legacy in the nation's number one game, a large fan base which may dwindle if success isn't forthcoming and a bitter city rival who is doing better than us.
We are becoming Notts County.
