Looks like united made a mistake for not having balls on taking ched back. Hes not lost it n with 4 goals in 3 games can see him picking up where he left. What do people think??

Convicted rapist at his time with us and his presence in and out of jail made the club look bad.

Good luck to him on his appeal, clearing his name and his career with the Spires, but I think we did what we had to do at the time based on the then known circumstances. He fucked up, guilty or not.

He'll probably get 15 goals before Chesterfield will have to let him go to a CL side in January for £200m+VAT

Either way up, his absence is not the root cause of our fucking demise.

We bottled it .... but at least we still have all that sponsorship money to buy new players with and our glorious patrons ... that fat bloke from beautiful south and the bird of sky news who is a big mike tyson fan cheering us on at the Lane every week

He is a top level L1 striker. That's the only opinion worthy of discussion on a football forum.

Leave the rest to the lawyers and do gooders !!!

And you know what, he won't even be within reach for us by January. He'll have scored 15-20 goals and will have had his conviction overturned.

There will be a lot of interest and Ched won't want to waste any more time, footballistically and financially. He's been robbed of four prime years of his career, he's going to want to play at the best level he can and get the best contract he can as quickly as possible.

Btw, if you think it's painful already, just wait until he scores against us and wins Chesterfield the game single handedly in November. I can't even imagine how that's going to feel.

Didn't he score in each of his last 6 or 7 games in a row for us? Scored every game so far this season too so could be on to break some records?

Need some Morgan type character to get at his ankles.

No amount of money would get Ched back at the lane, he's happy, he feels loved and is scoring goals.
We shat on him when he was willing to play for free.

Trust me on this.

My opinion on Ched is that he isn't our fucking player, and wallowing in "coulda woulda shoulda" (or "could of would of should of" to those grammatically impaired fuckwits out there) isn't going to improve our lot in the slightest.

Exactly. My opinion is that he seems a decent striker contracted to another club. We have enough to worry about, without pining for what we can't have. We will need to think about how to play against him and his team in weeks to come.

Next.

It was us who shat on him?
Yes, we told him we believed he was innocent, told him when he come out we would sort him out and we kept his spirits high while he was in the nick. He had something to build towards and look forward to.

Then when he come out we put the plans in motion and sponsors, a few 'club patrons' who never go to games, and the feminists of twitter put paid to that. We dropped him like a stone when we'd promised him the world.

Chesterfield had 2 sponsors pull out after they were rumoured to be signing him, and they just signed him anyway. A club with much less resources than us felt Ched was well worth the risk. Fair fucks to them, I hope they go up.

Desperate times need desperate measures, we have been desperate for a striker since he left, maybe there would have been an uproar but we would be in a higher division by now & would have sold him on

Think that's a WHOOOOSH right there

Ched was brilliant in his last few games for us, clearly far too good for league 1.

But let's not forget he was on a big salary and for his first 2 seasons he looked very average (at best).
Then surprise surprise.....as his contract is due to end he plays like a man playing for a new contract
And just got better and better towards the end of the season.

He's now playing for his future at Chesterfield.
He'll be psyched up and out to prove a point. Doesn't surprise me he's doing well.

I remember loads of Blades on forums and radio phone ins arguing that when any player is out of the game for 5 years it's impossible to come back the same player and it would take a full year to show some form.
Shows how wrong they were.

Chatting to a chessy fan this morning and impressed with Evans. Says making a huge difference to their team.

Was just thinking last night as I sat there is despair having seen he'd scored twice... we've been utterly shit at scoring goals ever since we lost Ched.

How fucking pathetic is that?

Didn't he score in each of his last 6 or 7 games in a row for us? Scored every game so far this season too so could be on to break some records?

Indeed he did.
The first game he missed was MKD away on Apr. 21st 2012. Prior to that, his last games for us were:

Mar. 3 2012 OLDHAM 2-0 Hoskins, EVANS
Mar. 6 Walsall 2-3 Williamson, EVANS
Mar. 10 Brentford EVANS (2)
Mar. 13 Colchester 1-1 Hoskins
Mar. 17 TRANMERE 1-1 EVANS
Mar. 20 Notts County 5-2 Quinn, EVANS, Lowton, Collins, Williamson
Mar. 28 CHESTERFIELD 4-1 Williamson. EVANS (3)
Mar. 31 Hartlepool 1-0 EVANS (p)
Apr. 7 BOURNEMOUTH 2-1 EVANS, Cresswell
Apr. 10 ROCHDALE 5-2 McDonald, EVANS (2), Williamson, Doyle
Apr. 14 LEYTON ORIENT 3-1 Williamson, Doyle, EVANS

So he scored in his last seven games for us, or ten in his last eleven. A total of 29 in 30 League appearances, plus five in four FA Cup games.

Still, he couldn't have come back - it would have 'looked bad'.

Though not nearly as bad as being in the fucking Fourth Division while Evans powers Chesterfield to the Championship.

I haven't said too much on the Evans affair at all, online - mainly because a lot has been covered already, and mainly because in the earlier stages I was wrestling with my own stance on the matter. What I will say now, is that I think we have missed a real opportunity here - without wanting to state the bleeding obvious.

I am far from being ITK, but at the time I had connections to a first team squad player no longer at the Lane, they were a good friend of Ched and had been to see him regularly in prison. All I know is that we were interested in him, and that several of our managers supported a return: Wilson wanted him back, it was unclear whether Weir did, then Clough did and so did Adkins. Several of the above have visited Ched whilst he was inside/freshly out, with members of the hierarchy at the Lane (special prize for guessing who). There were two offers on the table eventually:- interest from us, and interest from Chesterfield. At the time, he stated that his priority was to return to the Lane as the club he loved and whose fans had supported him during his darkest hour. Then things changed, Wilder came in and my ITK access stopped. I can only assume we either bottled it and withdrew our offer, or that Chesterfield pipped us to the post, perhaps due to us wanting to wait for him to clear his name completely?

Either way, we have missed out on a truly in form striker, hungry to impress. Chesterfield's fans seem to think that we will be in for him in January, but I'm not so sure. If his current form continues, he'll be far from obtainable for us by then, and I for one feel a tad hard done to - he owes us.
We are strongest in attack with Done, Sharp, McNulty, Clarke, DCL - but he's better than all of those.

I am thinking why the obsession about a sexual predictor who hasn't played for us for 4 years and why this is in general blades chat

I smell pork

He was obviously going to stay fit. He was obviously far too good for L1 last time. The least he was going to be after four years out was a decent L1 player. Given half a season he was always likely to be a top L1 player again. I can't believe so many thought he wouldn't be worth signing for football reasons.

There won't be a more motivated player in the division. He'll have a unique level of drive and determination after what's happened to him which made him a very rare, attractive opportunity indeed for any club willing to sign him.

Chesterfield have signed an innocent (at the moment) man, we tried to resign a convicted rapist.
