I thought our new strategy was not to go to the Championship and sign players on their way down?

The 3 names we are heavily linked with on the depressing rumour mill page are all 3 such players, why aren't we hoovering up the talent from teams around us?

Lavery can't be brought into that bracket. Morsy hasn't played a minute of championship football.

Grant I'l give you but name me another experienced keeper who you'd rather have for next to nowt? Who would be available and willing to come?

Because teams near us won't sell their first teamers to us after the season starts, because it weakens their first teams. You could make them an offer they can't refuse, but this is United.

Hence Championship reserves are on the agenda again.

This was an inevitable consequence of not doing enough in the close season.

To be fair we've brought in Fleck, Who's Coventry's best player, and arguably Burys best 2 in Clarke and Hussey, although Bury were always unlikely to be up there come the end of the season.

I think, as we found out with MK Dons, it's not easy to convince a promotion rival to sell to you. From what I heard the bid they accepted from Burton was less than what we were offering, they simply didn't want McFadzean coming here.

There's plenty of released players from up in the CL and even the PL who could fit the bill LS. Being as we fattened our coffers by a trillion bucks by jettisoning the likes of Flynn et al and have sold Adams for cough-ety-cough, we are obviously fucking tip-of-your-cock deep in wads of tenners, right now. Unless the incomers cost fucking fahsands, of course. Which is unlikely, because they've all come from the same paddock as us.

Cue disparaging 'you say the same thing' response without any substance.

I reckon you could offset that last potential accusation by naming some.

Ridiculous to class Morsy and Lavery as 'players on their way down'.

Wilder never ruled out signing players from the Championship either. He did rule out signing players dropping down who have no hunger and think they're doing us a favour.

And 'hoovering up talent from the teams around is' is generally more expensive, and we've already done that with more affordable ones like Fleck, Duffy, Hussey and Clarke.

What I'm amazed at is that Wilder hasn't plundered league 2. He knows who all the best players are but hasn't signed any . I'd still go for Pierre at Wycombe and there has to be some others down there we can afford who would improve the team.

I think he's tried and we were priced out, just for a change.

If you can't manage to sign his own ex player from his most recent team, he's going to be frustrated with how we do business!

For someone who berates the club for not providing sufficient information in the accounts you make claim after claim about the financial side without actually putting any meat on the bones of your argument. Not even a guess on the figures just hyperbole based on nothing but a desire to be negative

How about actually putting your head above the parapet for a change rather than just throwing shit from behind it?

Okay. Lets look amongst the 2016 released list, shall we?

For a start, I'd have Paddy Kenny back in a heartbeat. Not only does he know Bramall Lane, I reckon he's be able to mentor our current fuck-up-per-game kid between the sticks. Instead, he's gone to Northampton. QPR seem to have jettisoned a hell of a lot of players with PL experience, and some who could make a dent at our level. Bidding for people like Traore or Hill would have been encouraging. even if their wages are high, you pay for what you get. Faurlin left QPR too. I'd have stuck in a speculative ask for Bobby Zamora (instead of Clarke) and definitely broke the bank for Dan Burn. Steven Warnock was ditched as well, wasn't he?

This is just off the top of my head. Instead, we have managed to snag one person from Birmingham, with our talented attacker going the other way, for cough-ety-cough.

Now I know this is going to attract a lot of 'fucking hell! you are fucking joking! not that cunt!" and "we've made that mistake before with expensive upper division chimps" but that was Dean fucking Hammond, a man seldom seen tearing up the centre of the park for anyone. But we fucking signed the bastard, even though to anyone it was difficult to see where he'd make any impact. What I have briefly suggested is what we (maybe) should be aiming at.

If there's even a pinch of negativity in any news story, LS26BLADE is your man to find it! ;)

It's alright BAcon lettuce tomatoe will be along soon to tell us Real Madrid didn't sign anyone one transfer window and ended up with the European cup just to balance things up.

Then he'll tell you that what you're seeing on the pitch is wrong from 1200 miles away and lecture us about "getting behind the team".

Paddy Kenny? You can't seriously respond to a thread criticising us for signing past it players on their way down by suggesting we sign Paddy Kenny.

I'd much rather take Lee Grant who we're linked with.

Your other suggestions while clearly all decent players, seem to think we have unlimited resources for this league.

I'd take Grant too, if available, although I am simply shopping from CL released.

And as for 'unlimited resources' ... here we go ... DESSO PITCH.

To be fair after releasing all that shit from last season and selling Adams we must surely have some brass to spend?

There's a difference between 'some brass to spend' and signing several top end Championship players, many who have played in the PL in the non too distant future and would be on a hefty wage.

And that, Pete Blade, is the delta between 'aiming to be promoted' and 'sustaining the struggle to hope and aspire'

Oooh aye, let's sign Paddy Kenny again. Can't get on Northampton's bench because he's gone there to start his coaching career, but hey, they're only facts right?

Well, keep laughing as George spoons another doozie into the lap of an opposition attacker, boots the ball into touch from a goal kick or flaps at a cross.

Enjoy your fun.

Well, his coaching career could be best directed in the way of our current dysfunctional keeper, ne c'est pas? When he left, everyone was boo-hoo.

Yes... Paddy Kenny. Who is player / coach at Northampton and looked like this a few months back. Last played a game of football nearly 2 years ago and last had a semi-decent run of games almost 3 years ago.

Absolutely the kind of player we need rather than championship rejects on their way down looking for one last past day.

I swear people are on the wind up on this forum despite the attempts to make their posts appear legit.

Aaand ... whilst aspiring to be a coach and backing up 'reliable George' we might not see aberrations happen like we did on Saturday.

Long has been woeful for some time now.

Well we signed Dean Hammond last season :-/

Which stopped us making several other signings, was an all round agreed disaster and led to most of our fans saying what a terrible approach to transfers this was?

No it's the difference between real life football and altering the budgets on football manager.

I thought our transfer policy was sayin we need 4
