If he's not good enough for this division, he should seriously be thinking about his career and how long it will last

I'd expect Wilder is already thinking of this . Basham no doubt started thinking of this last season , and wondering if he was going to be part of the culling night of the long knives .

Careered and length bit immaterial . Just not good enough as a first team player for us.

League 2 or lower end league 1 if being kind . Another player who is not promotion material unfortunately .

That the problem there ain't one who can be turned around and I include all on the transfer list , Basham , Scoug , McNulty , Long in the mix.

That why we have to start again with new players with a clean brain free mentality . Ours just seem to be brainwashed of self confidence and winning .

I agree there’s nobody we can turn into a world-beater overnight but I think where players like Long, K. Wallace, Whiteman, DCL etc. differ s that they are young lads who can continue to gradually improve. I’m always happy to have a few of those supplementing the squad because you just don’t know how good they could be.

Agree with you , but it's not the world beater side of it . It's getting players who are perhaps so mentally scared with failure and lack of positive successes it could take with a good manager like Wilder to pull them around in believing in themselves, a timeline of 3 to 6 months . We just don't have the time , so a move for the player(s) concerned is good for them and good for us .

It's not done much good for us fans .

Think it's even surprised Wilder the tiredness of the club.

He's the most ineffective player since we had lady Hamilton. Bash does nothing.. Doesn't tackle, doesn't score, doesn't create, doesn't protect defence etc etc. Get shut-we don't need passengers

Really? I think he's limited on the ball, but I do think he covers a lot of grass and makes many tackles. He won a stamina test in pre season, which shows he's a good athlete and with Wilder's pressing preference I think he appreciates the job he does. I also want another central midfielder though, especially when we're struggling to break down teams. And I'm not sure what Wilder would do if Fleck got an injury.

Fully agree

Basham would be a good back-up player within the squad, covering injuries, suspensions and a drop-in form from first teamers, in a number of positions, centre half, centre mid, and at a push right back or right midfield. He hasn't got the personality to boss a game but he'd be a good squad player, filling in when required.

There’s definitely something wrong. It seems we try everything. Proven scorers, managers with excellent CVs etc. and move no further forward.

I think the only way we will move forward is to accept some short term pain for long term gain, accept that a manager is probably not going to do it in his first season and let someone develop a team over 2-3 years.

He most certainly does tackle. He presses, competes in the air and although lacking going forward, usually at least manages to move the ball on to a more capable teammate. I think he needs to add more goals to his game if he’s playing CM. He’s shown glimpses at times of being able to make those late runs and meet crosses. We need more of that.

That’s what he’s been doing since he arrived. Filling in for James Wallace. Order will be restored any day now... honest.

A typical 'Bash' performance yesterday: looked occasionally impressive, winning peripheral skirmishes, away from the main battlefield where his team was losing the war.

He has some admirable qualities, in particular a great attitude and abundant stamina. Unfortunately, (maybe even disastrously) this is undone by his lack of spacial awareness and the consequent impact this has on team shape and cohesiveness. Hammond's only redeeming quality was the discipline and shape he gave to midfield. This matters, especially in a team with defensive vulnerabilities.

Wilder has a big call to make here because Bash does many of the things required in a pressing team but he must find a more compatible partner for Fleck if we are going to dominate games.

Basham seems to have been going downhill since joining us. He initially could play centre back or midfield and it wasn't unusual to see him ghost past two or three players in midfield, despite a lack of ball control. Won The Star player of the year with Jamie Murphy April 2015. Has started season slowly last two seasons. Worth persisting with to see if he comes good, but I'm starting to lose faith as he gets older.
Bit like Brayford since he signed up

Have always thought of Bash as a better CB, and that still may be the case.

But he is defo winning me over now with some assured / commanding performances in CM. The lads not Iniesta but now plays an important role in the overall balance of the side.

MOTM for me against Oxford played well again today.

Isn't my cup of tea but he was okay today, yes we'd like better but he's a good squad player. Full of heart and commitment too. A good character to have in the team just wish he was more handy with the ball.
