We have, once again and not knowing all of the circumstances, been relieved of our most valuable commodity on the field of play. No other player on the books could command close to the fee we are getting for Che and maybe that, by itself, is the top and bottom of it.

That said, if this is part of Tuftys master plan for the squad and managing the resources according to what is there, than so be it.

But make no mistake. Adams is a loss. How great a loss remains to be seen.

One thing we have to address is pace. This is the slowest SUFC side ever assembled. We do not have one player with any pace whatsover in the side. Not one. Sadly there is not even a Campbell Ryce type off the bench. DCL may be quite quick but is injured. If we had a foot race over say 30 yards with our eleven versus every other eleven in the league and added up the times I am quite confident we would come last. Does not mean we wont be better than most teams but we have to address this surely?

I think we have a few players who are quick off the mark. Hussey, Done, Duffy and Fleck all seem to set off quick but in a foot race over a long distance wouldn't beat many. A winger and athletic midfielder would be nice.

Once we signed Clarke, I thought the sale of Adams was inevitable. Some will probably moan that we've signed a 31 year old to replace a 20 year old, however my view is that we just need to sign whoever it takes to get us back to the Championship, then we review it again.

Top priority has got to be a central mid with ideally a left sided mid/winger and possibly another centre half. I'm not fussed whether we sign them permanently or on loan - a signing like Coady for the season would be fine - just as long as they give us a stronger squad and we've got some balance in the side, that we haven't quite managed yet.

Assuming Morsy is not available - anyone have any suggestions either perms or loans that we could realistically be in for?

Controversially, I would have liked us to try for Lewis McGugan when he became available but I'm assuming his wage demands and reluctance to drop to League 1 would have scuppered that move.

Whether we should have sold Adams or not for me depends on if the money is spent, same as maguire, McDonald, Murphy etc so it's in Wilder's hands now because he will lose s few fans if he doesn't spend it. Most a few muppets after losing at Bolton

A couple of weeks ago I was talking to a (non-United) football fan. He said 'The Blades haven't signed anybody, have they?' I replied that we've signed seven players and paid off the likes of Hammond.

It would seem that the same myopia affects some on here. Seven new players - even if they were all freebies (which they aren't) would have more than swallowed whatever we get for Che. Unless people would have been happier if we'd have waited until new money came in for players before we started signing? In which case, the starting XI at Bolton would have looked pretty much the same as the shower that ended last season.

Fair play to United and CW. We've boldly speculated for once. And don't forget, the Che money isn't in the bank yet. Some people were urging United to spend the £3m+ that Newcastle were meant to be paying for Che. Thank God we didn't.

Poyet if he can repaired would be a good signing, however let's sign him perm because they obviously don't want and he had limited value. Get the lad Reece Burke who is meant to be a top prospect at CB on loan from West Ham. A young winger would be good is Harry chapman at Boro on loan or s bit unrealistic I know but sheyi Ojo from Liverpool. One thing we can give them is games.

Have Man Ure for any youngsters not named twiss we can have on loan?

Personal reasons aside for a move, focussing on your other point, hazard a guess where the Maguire / McDonald / Murphy went ?

I have confidence that Tufty won't spunk this money away like previous managers but also doubt he will get all of it to invest in the squad. Around half will go in to balancing the budget / paying off players etc.

Exactly mate ....... this is the concern that most United fans that I know are talking about. We have few saleable assets and Adams is without doubt the one who will bring in the best fee. The problem is ..... will the fee go to Tufty to create a squad which is realistically capable of challenging for promotion ( because the current squad isn't ) and for most of us cynical old bastards the answer is ....... I'm not holding my breath

There's a chance here, if the Board have learned anything in the last 5 years of self-imposed exile, to get out of this division ........ over to you board !!

Anything greater than nil is too much in my personal opinion. That whole venture was a fool's errand. China, land of counterfeit were never going to buy our shirts and any players of a level for SUFC wouldn't have got visas. Any level slightly better and they would have wanted to go somewhere better. We managed a few Chinese players but only well established but you can count the amount of successful Chinese players in England on the fingers of one hand.

It did coincide nicely with McCabe doing business in China.

I'm not openly a McCabe basher, he means well but execution has been poor.

In this case however any dressing as something for United was nonsense, it was clearly much more beneficial for his own business expansion outside of Football.

From memory it cost £600k.

McCabe had been doing big business in China long before that deal. Deals that made money not lost it.
