If he is involved in the first team for the majority of the season we are going to do absolutely nothing.

He does nothing, he doesn't even hassle and harry like the Scougall that we first signed, the one that made him a cult hero. Cos lets face it - he's never been particularly good with the ball.
He has little to no effect on games, isn't a good ball player, doesn't score, doesn't assist, lightweight and not THAT fast. What sort of attacking midfielder is he?

Time for us so see what Fleetwood are willing to offer I'm afraid. we can do so much better.

This isn't just a reaction to Bolton because there were a lot of positives, this has been building up since our last Wembley visit - which is the last time Scougall did anything of note in a United shirt...

He's out of contract next summer too. Now is the time to try and move him on.

Although he was very well received at Fleetwood where he was playing against the same sides we are every week?
Wilder likes him. There will be a reason why that is.
He's on sensible money, and is capable back up for using in changes in system.
I don't think he is going anywhere.

I haven't seen him play since he was reinstated but apart from running around more than the average player, I fail to see what he does to influence a game.

I'll see with my own eyes albeit against L2 opposition tomorrow but it sounds like we are still weak in midfield with Basham and Scougall present.

Walsall fans love Andy Taylor when in reality he's the gashest left back we've had in the recent past. Other clubs opinions don't really matter to me. reality is Scougall has no effect on a game for us at this level.

He doesn't do anything because he can't do anything - he doesn't run around that much anymore and that was his main attribute!

Have to agree. I was surprised he was given another 'look'. Wilder must have not seen much of him since those odd decent games (debut was best he played v Fulham - got worse ever since then) when he as signed.

Can understand McNulty getting another chance due to him being able to nick odd goal and showing at Pompey etc

Scougall came on Saturday and although put wide that should not excuse that 3 times the ball came 5-10 yards off him when he attempted to control it. Not sure what his best position is mind. Wilder will probably not play a 5 in midfield so that rules him out in the centre (too weak/ineffectual) and cannot play up top or wide.

Fortunately I do not think Wilder will mess about giving lots of chances to players. I hope and expect Woolford, Wallace J and K, Freeman, Coutts, Scougall and probably McNulty all to be gone long before we can officially release them at the end of the season.

If we can't sell him this month I'd suggest loaning him to a Scottish club until January. He'll look good up there. Then someone will give us money for him. But we'll still make a loss on him - didn't think that would be the case when he first arrived.

Think in reality there are others ahead of him in the "get rid" box. Should he go? Wilder seems to think he adds something so I guess he won't be off anywhere soon. Doesn't appear to be any more than back up though.

I'd be more concerned about getting better players in before we get rid of anyone else. The squad is actually not that big any more.

Why what did he cost?

I think we could squeeze a couple of hundred k out of Fleetwood or an SPL club for him. I think his 'impressive?' loan spell at Fleetwood and today's inflated market will just about allow for that.

Couple of hundred grand for a player as bad as I have just been reading about on here? Thought somebody said he is gash now he's worth that?

About 175k rising to 400k I think. Hopefully we've not paid more than 200k.

I don't think the inflation quite trickles down to Fleetwood buying L1 players with a year left on their contract. I doubt we'd get more than 100k.

This is a world where circa £2,000,000 is spent on league one right backs, anything goes.

Wouldn't rule it out, Walsall have just broken their transfer record - the league one big guns are out in force.

Think you are being massively optimistic. A bloke who struggles to hold down a place in League 1 worth 200k? I'd be surprised if we got £50k for him.

Yeah but do you honestly see 200k? I am not inthe anti scoogs camp (at the moment) but I would sell him for half that

Don't think we will get a fee . Be undisclosed FOC just to get him off the books.

I think we have to remember and give Wilder some credit , that due to previous managers player purchases , he is working with hands tied behind his back .

The more me head rules me heart , this season ain't going to bring us promotion.

True I'll accept I may be being optimistic with 200k even in todays market on reflection. Best we could hope for is a bidding war in Scotland.

A bidding war for an ineffectual midget between a bunch of clubs who haven't got two quid to rub together? Unless Rodgers is looking at him and thinking 'he's the man who can unlock Champions League defences.' And although I think the bloke is seriously deluded he'd have to be certifiably insane to think that.
On the other hand, Sammon is still being paid to play football.

Your last sentence overrules everything else you have just said. On a 3 year contract no less.
ANYTHING is possible!

Wilder has said he wants to see what he can offer and we shouldn't make conclusions after 20 minutes against a very deep and defensively minded Bolton side who did their best to prevent us any space.

He didn't manage to get involved much, but one thing he did was return the ball for Fleck's 1-2 before Flecks shot which was one of our best second half chances.

We are making our conclusions after two years of poor performances.

Think he's another one that probably should move on for his own sake as well. Fleetwood liked him I gather and I was a bit surprised CW stuck his neck out on this one. Having said that he also did for McNulty and there are now rumours (not very strong though I admit) of him going.
