Will Wilder get more time than Adkins and Clough if things go wrong

Got me thinking last night, if things weere to go the way things did under the previous two, would Wilder get more time from the fans/board because he's one of us?

I'd like to think so.

No, why should he?
We've set our stall out now. You get one season, if you don't get us up, you are sacked. No reason to change for Wilder. I don't agree with it, but that's the president we have set.

remember when Micky Adams took over and he made that T sign with his fingers to the kop to say give me time. In his case I wish he'd got less time!

With the budget we seem to have its going to take him about 3 years to field an eleven of his own creation

We don't have a budget, Wilder will have to make his own by dealing

I really don't see the point of giving someone one season and then sacking them if we don't go up, unless we have a disastrous season. It's just throwing money down the drain having to pay a three year contract up for multiple people every season. We'd be better off just sticking with Wilder and giving him that money instead.

Nope, we have proved we don't intend to build long term.

So I fully expect no promotion this season to equal the sack for Wilder.

Depends on the fans reactions - for me it's more about seeing noticeable improvements in attitude and style of play together with a play off position - I don't think lack of promotion will get him the sack - Adkins actually took us backwards and paid the price!

President Kev?

If we see progression then he should get time. It all depends on how we progress so it's way to early to say really.

All depends on the situation.

For me if the football is more positive and we can see improvements over last season then he will deserve another crack next year if we miss out on promotion. If we show signs of going backwards again then he will be off and rightly so.

Adkins probably got too long to be fair. We saw no improvement what so ever compared to Cloughs regime. There were no signs that he knew what day it was, never mind what needed to be done to improve the football. Another season as negative as last season would have been a disaster. Jay McEv as captain ffs - he should have been sacked then and there.

I think the fans were more patient with Clough because we had seen glimours of hope and decent football. He gave us the cup run too. It was his own stubbornness that cost him his job rather than the fans. The counter attacking solid approach was good in his first season when we were seeing games out and picking points up. In the second it was just ridiculous...how many points did we throw away sitting back on a lead? We simply did not have the momentum or the players in his second season. Coady out and Wallace in was one of the main reasons. Coady's athleticism, determination and fitness was one of the main reasons for the first seasons upturn in form IMO.

Adkins was a clueless twat. Clough was a stubborn twat. We need wilder to be a ruthless twat.

Wilder is already far more likeable than the other two due to his honest approach to interviews.

I'd like to think that if we're a clear improvement on last season, and that fans can see the dead wood being cleared out, a better attitude on the pitch, that Wilder would get more time.

The board are the ones that pull the trigger on managers, but it's not like the ones we've sacked had the backing of the fans at large when they left. Getting booed off the pitch has been a standard half-time and full-time occurrence under the last two managers.

Wilder's had a hell of a job this closed season imo, and if it turns out that he couldn't get a promotion team out of us in that time I can live with that (not without disappointment, but still). All I want to see is that the players he does bring in are clear improvements and not a bunch of Woolfords.

If Things go seriously tits up he may not get as long as Weir.

Ive seen that on here a few times, what does that mean bladey bladeness?
A phrase used by Pinchy to describe;

- Long ball football
- A love for Bassett and Warnock
- Being ultra protective of academy youngsters, to include holding them in a higher regard than they deserve.
- Liking managers who are Blades
- A want to always bring back former players

If you subscribe to the above you are supposedly a Bladey Blade. Hope that helps.

Don't forget lager swilling idiots

If we were to, say, finish 11th, exit the season with no pattern or passion, play negatively then no he won't get any more time.

Bring back positive attacking football and even if we lost out on promotion after a play off campaign then yes he can get another season.

I'll be going to my first game on Tuesday and I want to see some improvements even though it's a fairly unimportant competition for us.

He says he wants to win every game, I expect to see a team that goes for it especially at the Lane.

There's a very good chance that if we hadn't sacked Mickey Adams he would have taken us back up by now.

If he doesn't take us up this season I think he would need to be extremely close or unlucky to keep his job.

You could argue that he's already had less to contend with in terms of player issues than Adkins. Being able to pay people off and get shut of them whilst bringing in 7 players. Adkins was largely stuck with Clough's chuffers.

'Barney Barnness'.

-An irrational hatred of everything Blades.
-A propensity to vitriol and bile.
-An unquestioned belief in your own self importance and knowledge, (despite never going to a game).
-An unshakeable belief in your own flawed arguments, despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary.
-An ability to speak out of ones arse.

Hope that helps. :)

There's a good chance that if we hadn't signed Shatkins up we would be up by now!!

think you got some of that off my introduction message, I said about Basset and Warnock and manager being a Blade. Bit cheeky bit Im not bothered, it wouldnt have hurt us to be a bit more route one a few times last season either instead of passing the ball to death along the back 4. Not bothered one way or another about former players coming back.
