Quite a predictable link with Paul Mitchell being here and our need for a winger, and he'd be a very exciting signing, but based on some of the clubs apparently interested, I think we can forget it.

If we're looking at him though that suggests we will have a fair bit to spend, because he wouldn't be cheap.

Possible links with Paul Mitchell and Sheffield is not far, sounds possible if he has a good connection with Paul and if Paul can persuade him, the offer would have to be a fairly good amount though because he is a good prospect for them so they wont want to lose him for cheap money. Good player though, electric quick and good dribbler also two-footed and plays on either wing but he is weak in some areas of his game. Problem is that usually the younger lads choose to step to high too soon to higher divisions usually for more money and they usually struggle to perform but hopefully he will not just jump at a higher division team if we are trying to sign him.

thought I'd have a go at this "Player Suggestion" game even though it's as pointless as playing strip poker with your granny (unless you live in Barnsley).

My suggestion is Gboly Ariyibi of Chesterfield.

I've seen the kid play maybe half a dozen times and none of it on YouTube. (That's credibility for a start isn't it?).

He's a young kid, maybe 20 ish? and he's a very pacy winger with a bagful of tricks. He's a bit raw, but he's definitely got something- and it's something I don't think we've got in the squad at present.

He'd probably be cheap too because he's not really made any headlines yet, but he will. Wednesday fans will know about him because he ran the show in the recent friendly and tore their pacy full back, Helan, a new one.

He could join us and not even have to move house.

I assume Paul Mitchell will know about him?

Tbh - just after I posted I saw it.

I didn't know about Championship interest but even so I still think we'd be a big draw for him. He's one of them players that you look back on in 3 years time and wished we'd have signed. A bit like when Danny Wilson tried to get Raheem Stirling on loan - anyone dare to remember that? Just think what could have happened there!

Good managers see these possibilities early doors.

I'd put money on Ariyibi going for big money to the Prem 3 years from now.
