Just had a text from my mate in Australia saying that Carney is playing for the socceroos at right back, perhaps he will be providing the back-up should Geary have any problems between now and the end of the season.

Not the first time he's played there for Australia, think he played RB against Brazil in a friendly. Not sure how often he has been in that position though, but i'm sure he's more than capable to fill in there.

and to think... everybody ignored me when I mentioned it in the Bromby thread ;)

so that means when geary is injured or suspended, tonge or hendrie will come back in.

Why cant we just get another RB?

All it means, is that its a possibility :)

Carney played very well last night. He didnt make any mistakes and all his crosses hit the mark. He has now managed to cement his place in the Socceroos lineup.

Good to hear!, cheers for keeping us up to date from Aus!

It's funny, a few years ago we would have been more then happy with these kind of options from the bench.

Bayern Munich are interested in signing Sheffield United's Australian international midfielder David Carney in a £2m deal. (Daily Star)

As a winger or a full back I wonder...

If this were true, would it be fair to him to not let him leave for European football, and for almost £2m more than we paid for him?

I'd judge him badly as a player if he didn't take the opportunity to go to Bayern.
