When was the last time we took 4,000+ to a league game OUTSIDE of the Yorkshire Region?

I know what your thinking, "stop doing something Wednesday would do", but seriously having seen us sell 4200 for an away game to Bolton, it got me thinking. When was the last time we sold a figure similar or over this in a game that was not local? I seem to recall the Palace game in 09 with 7000+ and of course THAT day in Leicester(I hope to God we get another day like that) where we took 10,000. Any more from you guys that spring to mind.

Ps - Fa cup games don't count ie Man United last season

MK Dons, the game that killed our promotion push for the next 4 years.

It's a tough ground to get a good atmosphere going I always think. I don't like being in two tiers but it's brilliant how much Wilder seems to appreciate and be proud of our support.
He mentions it a lot and I hope he hammers it home to the players as well.

20,000 locked out of the ground at Old Trafford in October 2nd 1971 and most of them were Blades. There were many Blades inside the ground too and I was one of the lucky ones

"You're now just one question away from the £10,000,000 prize... you can phone-a-friend, ask the forum and still go 50/50...
the £1.25 you've already won is safe... do you want to risk that for a shot at the £10,000,000 with just ONE question?"

We'll be right back after Silent Blade thinks it over...

MK after Ched got locked up, can't remember whether it was 6,000 or 7,000. Bury aswell when we had 3 sides of the ground, although that was probably 4,000 at the most. Can't be many more, most of the grounds at this level aren't big enough.

Whatever club it is, there aren't many in the circumstances we are in that would drag 4K to Bolton......especially at the ticket price charged.

I just hope whatever side turns out leaves everything on the pitch regardless of the result. We want to see good football, but you have to win your battles first and show some desire. So here's hoping.

Certainly hope it's a damn sight better than the start to the last two seasons.

To be honest I wish our fans would stop wanking off about how many we are taking, we sound like Leeds and Pig fans.

If there's one thing I detest on my Twitter /FB feed its supporters of those clubs posting a picture of their 'following ' with a caption of how massive they are.

The amount of fans taken away never has and never will gain any points.

I agree, we take decent numbers to many places. We don't need to mention it every two minutes like the above-mentioned wanker clubs.

Best we've taken away since we've been in this piss poor division, outside Yorkshire, league only:-

11/12 MK Don 6,135
11/12 Bury 3,738
11/12 Oldham 3,597
11/12 Rochdale 3,412
13/14 Notts C 3,321
11/12 Notts C 3,315
12/13 Notts C 3,058

MK Dons 2012

great game, a line of young Blades doing the conga around the ground, before half time, with loads of people joining the back of the line, singing something like "the line is getting longer, cos the Blades are doing the conga, na na na na oooo, na na na na oooo!"

The issue in play to my mind, isn't about our loyalty or the numbers taken. It's the case that many grounds aren't big enough to cope with the numbers we would take. We would have taken at least 4k to Luton away before we went up to the Premiership. Wimbledon next month will be a hard ticket to get as the whole ground only holds 4k. Crawley and Stevenage can't hold much more. Brentford away in the last Wilson season springs to mind as another where the interest outweighed the away end.

Mind you the smaller grounds are great and as I keep saying to my Southern Mates who 'support' (but don't follow) Premiership clubs, it's where real football is played, with terraces, pylons, local people and not a prawn fecking sarnie in sight. Give me the Peterborough and Swindon experience over the Chelsea and Arsenal one any day.

Perhaps its just a way for an ageing Blade to remember his youth...but then there's Nowt wrong with that!
