I’m with Ricky on this one. Paul Pogba is a superb midfielder and will probably develop into the best all round central midfield player on the planet (though Renato Sanchez looks very promising too). I’ve been singing his praises since I saw him as a 17 year old in the youth cup final at BDTBL.

Yes he was ineffective in the final but there were moments of real quality from him during the tournament including the assist for the 2nd goal against Albania which is about as good a pass as you’ll ever see. Given he’s only 22, when you look at the attributes he has, there is good reason for his value being so high (in the context of the absolutely ridiculous prices throughout football in general).

A lot of his positive contributions and moments from the tournament seem to have been overlooked, and those were while he was never truly in his most comfortable area of the pitch. People were saying how Payet was more effective but he had at least two quiet games too, none more than the final.

I think people also forget how young he is. As I've said before, compare Pogba now to Zidane at the same age. It's a good comparison, and they're similar players. Pogba is one of the most prominent players in the world and one of the first names on France's team sheet, Zidane wasn't quite that in 1995. I don't think Pogba will reach Zidane's level but he's got a lot of improvement left in him and will establish himself as the best midfielder in the world.

But does he do a lot of unseen work?

He's overrated

There's plenty of worse value around right now than Pogba for £80-100m. This is a time when Hal Robson-Kanu is apparently being offered 100k per week by clubs in China.

I don't think now's the time for Pogba to move though. Moving clubs is a risk, especially with so much expectation, especially when they play a different way to your previous club and especially when they're not established and stable, and those things apply to Man U. It's not the same as stepping into a side like Juve (like Dybala did) who are totally established. He's developed a hell of a lot over the last two seasons at Juve and will continue to do so if he stays. It's the right place for him to be at this time.

Annoyingly he always seems to have a good game against us and scores.

I'm pretty sure he holds the record for the player to score the most goals against us. It's about 12 goals.

Alan Shearer holds the record vs. SWFC

Google isn't helping me confirm either of the above 'facts'

Didn't shearer score five in one game against the unclean?

Rumour has it that Graziano Pellè's Chinese deal is worth £34,000,000 over 2 and a half years. That's around £260k a week. For Graziano Pellè.

“There’s man all over for you, blaming on his boots the faults of his feet.”

Perhaps more appropriate?

“Estragon: What about hanging ourselves?
Vladimir: Hmm. It'd give us an erection.”

Can I be the first poster this morning to state the bleeding obvious. We could be trying to sign Messi but would have no chance if we offered a couple of quid and a pack of peanuts.

Can I be the second poster this morning to state the bleeding obvious. We should be trying for better than a 31 year old Bury FC forward.

How many avatars does it take to change a Barney? That's three in a week isn't it?
