Billy Sharp... He's not the Messiah...

I was saying about Billy Sharp the other night, he's the only striker who is a "Legend" on the Kop that's never scored a league goal for us. Whether it's down to the tactics or not, he had a few chances early on in the season and never buried them in the league.

we dont get the ball in the six yard box for him to score. he is not going to get a ball 25 yards out and crack one.

True but all I am saying is a different strike force might be good especially if Beattie hits a drought and is not performing. Mind you some have said Hulse and Beattie upfront although I cant see that working.

yes we'd all love for billy to pop some in. But it just hasn't been falling for him whether down to tactics or not it doesn't matter because robbos not going to change them to suit billy so he'll have to keep pluggin away. but it will come

and hulse coming back is exciting and based on his goals last year he deserves a run in the team.

And true that without beatties goals we will be in a whole lot of trouble. and don't get me wrong he has been immense this season, but i dont think he has looked as effective the last couple of home games.

But the player i think deserves more credit is stead. who's form has been good whenever he's had the chance, and was one of the very few players who looked anything like against stoke.

so i think beatts and stead up front, and billy and rob are just going to have to work there way back in.

I again point to this thread.

Billy came on and apart from a lot of bluster and cheer leading, didn't really achieve anything.

If anything, his passion for the Blades made him try and do too much yesterday - dropping back to try and pick the ball up and run with it instead of hanging around the box for any kind of service.

I disagree, there have been games where the supply has been there, but the strikers have not.... the games over xmas are perfect examples.

well i disagree robbie, the strikers have been making there own chances all of the season. supply hasnt always been there and if a ball goes into the box its been too deep or out of the way for the strikers to get at.

I don't think the service has been there at all this year. There was one moment at Bristol City which stands out for me.

James Beattie out wide on the right, taking the ball to the byline to cross to Squinny who's on the penalty spot, being crowded out by two hulking great defenders, with nobody on the left to pick the ball up.

Why?

Because our left winger's on the bloody penalty spot. When players have been in their normal positions (which have been mere fleeting moments), the service has been poor.

The thing is though Keenzy, you're an advocate that if you don't do your job then you would be docked wages/sacked, yet you are fully behind a player who is not doing his job, ie scoring goals.
