O'Connell could be considered one of the better players in League One due to his spell with Rochdale season before last. Their fans rave about him. He scored 5 goals over his spells there, 5 goals in one season from centre half!! That's Maguire territory

Not the quickest and sometimes a bit 'panicky' are meant to be his pitfalls, as well as sometimes being sloppy in possession but at 22 he's not going to be the finished article and in league one they are 3 negatives you can afford.
He can read the game, puts his head where it hurts and talks to his defence. 3 things you can't coach.

He's 22, he's learning and I'm pretty excited by this. He might be just what Wilson needs next to him to bring the best out of him. Still hoping for that marquee centre half signing though, McFadzean please Chris. Fully expect that one to happen due to him digging his heels in.

Well, 5 really. Wilson might be seen as a risk but as expected he'll be one of 3 - if he doesn't perform he's on the bench simple as that. I'm a bit more optimistic about him after what Wilder said about him, he knows he hasn't performed but he's hungry to get back to the player he was season before last. That's all we can ask, I can't remember him then but I remember his name being linked here there and everywhere then he went off the boil. Could be a smart signing we'll just have to wait and see.

If the fee for O'Connell is 'substantial' by the way - and I'd have that as something above 200k, then he's surely coming in as a regular starter, which could mean no Kilgallon.

Hopefully it hasn't been funded by pending sales. Hopefully whatever we bring in from the inevitable sale of Adams/DCL/both will be spent in addition to this fee. If so, we've got a great chance of getting a good squad together as I trust our management team.

Lets not forget young Callum Semple who will be ready to start in the first team towards the end of the season, if not before. Training with first team full time i have been told.

May only be 17 but is spoken of by Wilder very highly. I agree though that he needs to be pushed forward gently.

I don't think Kilgallon is a Wilder type player. Fingers crossed McFadzean is sorted soon. 3 good solid centre backs and a good young un to bring through.

Club can't do right for doing wrong. If it's a free transfer then we should've spent money, if we pay a fee then we're selling someone. It really is amazing.

And even if the two mentioned above do get sold out squad is shaping up to be better than last seasons

Either way we do seem to be working and operating to a plan , instead of a had hoc approach , with

Take a punt on his injury situation wavering a medical

Players purchased who don't fit into a flexible system.


At last perhaps McCabe to be fair to the fella , is sleeping easier knowing his money is being spent well with diligence . Something we have never had . Good positive signs without geese or being goosed.
