Hotting Up

Did he say "would" or he "would like" ?

Let's quote him properly even if youve nailed yourself to a cross and are sucking vinegar off a sponge.

He's been here five minutes and people are already accusing him of lying and being a board puppet.

This is a very good point, and 'would like'. However, the fact he's been prevented from doing what he would like to do is worrying, isn't it? Considering he's after about 5/6 players more.

Something has to have prevented him making the signings he stated he wanted to make.

It's down to going the other way completely with regards to wages, taking it to unnecessary lengths and not being willing to pay the wages of the best of the lower divisions.

We're clearly pushing our luck far too much and it's costing us, and will end up costing another season if we don't change sharpish.

How has he "been prevented"? Please stop peddling your shit.

I want something
I don't have something
There's something preventing me getting it

I'm not blaming Wilder. It might just be one of those things. But we have a history of struggling to gets things over the line. Hence the worry.

If you need some electrical work done, and you speak to 5 different electricians they'll all tell you roughly the same thing.

If you need some plumbing work done, and you speak to 5 different plumbers they'll all tell you roughly the same thing.

If you need a football club managed, and you speak to 5 different football managers they'll all tell you roughly the same thing.

The difference between electricians, plumbers, and football managers, is the quality of their work, and of course, by definition you dont get to see that until they actually start work.

I will reserve my judgement of CW until I've seen something on the pitch.

And? What's that other than words?

Hilariously out-waged by millionaires Northampton Town.

deja vu "Can we get him over the line? I don't know."

Genius.

Seriously, what is the above other than PR spin? Said in a salt of the earth way. Woofuckinghoo.

And this thread was a reaction to the direct comments of our manager. If it's not going to 'hot up' then he should shut the fuck up.

Lies. Basically. No one will see it that way. If this was Adkins saying this there would be uproar. Odd that.

Why has he been prevented? And how do you know that?

Edit. Just seen the first question has been asked by S5Blade but your answer says nothing. How do you know that's the case?

I genuinely give up. How is this not straight forward.

He wants something
He;s trying to get something
He hasn't been able to get something
Something must have prevented him from doing so.

I'm not saying someone is preventing him from bringing the players in as quickly as he wants (although my spidey senses are tingling) but factors are preventing him doing so. As I've said previously, it could just be bad luck or one of those things.

He stated that he believes we are behind in recruitment, i.e. we have not signed as many players as he would have liked.

Ergo, something has prevented it.

He said "the fact is". I'm asking where that "fact" comes from.

The inference is of course it's the boardroom but then bear in mind he originally stated "would" rather than the reality "would like".

Surely even you can see the point.

Re Ravell it was the player wanting more than CW thought he was worth. Something meaningful to listen too.

Even at my age I fancy an Audi R8, but guess what, something's preventing me getting one.

Jesus, it's really not rocket science, I promise you.

Of course it's a fact. As has been explained to you in simple terms twice already, if we have not signed as many players now as he would have liked, something has prevented it happening.

I must say I was surprised that he wanted to sign Revell in the first place, but I agree with him not paying over the odds for him (although I'm equally surprised that Northampton are paying huge wages).

Precisely. I think my worry is caused by the recent history we have as a club and difficulties in signing players. We've created our own problems by paying stupid wages to overrated players so there's an expectation that we'll keep doing so. If players have been getting better offers at other clubs in this division, what's to stop this continually happening with all our targets? I can;t see why the majority of players would take (as an example) 25% less wages just for the privilege of playing for our club, unless they have some attachments here.

It's a fair point but surely he knew this before he started? I'm sure I've heard him mention it in an earlier interview.

Yes he did. He is using 'wage demand' as a measure of a players commitment to SUFC. If the only reason they want to come is for the pay packet then the answer is NO.

I never thought you were a rocket scientist believe me. Contract cancellation was explained to you more than twice, a lot more, that didn't sink in did it and that actually was about facts.

The other option that your small brain hasn't considered is that CW hasn't made final moves yet. But I suppose that him preventing. Himself from doing something. I don't know, Robbie doesn't know and you certainly don't.

See Robbies answer and note the difference.

All irrelevent.

You questioned how it was a fact that he has been prevented.

That has been spelled out in three different posts for you.

Why would a player not currently playing for us have any prior commitment to us? If I had the choice between doing the same jobs in two different banks I would take the offer with the best package. Why is a footballer any different?

And yes, there are a lot of mercenaries out there, but most players simply want the most beneficial deal.

'Wages'; 'Best Package'; and 'Most beneficial Deal' aren't necessarily the same thing.

I could earn more 'wages' doing my job if I moved to London.
But I would incur extra costs either in having to move house, or the cost of daily commuting, so it may not be the 'best package'
Moving to London wouldn't be the 'most beneficial deal' for my family, because my kids would have to leave their friends and start a new school. And then there is my wife's job

And so I continue working in Sheffield and shun the lure simply of higher wages.

Of course I have, until you can explain to me how somebody can miss out on their aims without being prevented, which you can't.

I've already said, what if he hasn't made any final moves yet? You ignored it. Your standard technique for difficult questions.

The point being of course, you don't know, which really ought to be your strapline.

Is this your daily panic post? In which case I bring this guy back.

That was me when I saw the Euro rate this morning ;)
