Hotting Up

Just out of interest, how is it unrealistic if another club have met his demands?
unrealistic for us then. Or do we match the highest bidder? Also Wilder says agents adding 2K a week on when it's us so maybe his demands at Northampton are 2K less?

You have a point there. I just wish he'd started off treading the middle ground. It's the dashing expectations that's frustrating.
I personally do wish they wouldn't say owt until there is summat to say, but there seems to be this expectation that sound bites have to be released every day or so to stop us all fretting. (edit: and it doesn't work ;) )

We need to be patient regards signings it's harder for us unfortunately, to negotiate with agents due to the clubs past transfer dealings where, I'm sure many of you will agree they have had our fuckin pants down. I was told a few weeks ago agents view us as soft cunts willing to pay over the odds posted it in rumours on here aswell only to have my case dismissed by the court jester. Look at some of the shit we have had to endure watching these overpaid cunts I for one am glad due diligence is now being used over signings and if we miss out on a few bang average players so fuckin be it. In CW I believe the shoots of recovery are starting to appear and if I takes till the end of July who gives a fuck points only start becoming available in twatting august UTB

Well, I'm just going off his own words. He wants (almost) everyone in place by today. Not happened. This week will be hotting up. Not happened.

So yeah, explain to me why he's currently any different to any other manager we've had recently. Hollow promises.

For the record, I'm not anti-Wilder. Far from it. But I'm hearing the same shit I've heard for the last God knows how many years.

this word 'promises' always amuses me. He hasn't promised to sign any players or any number of players. He has rightly and accurately stated what our priorities are and that he intends to address them. He's also expressed a hope [certainly no promise though]that it might be done sooner rather than later How anyone deduces 'promises' from that is a mystery to me.

Yet the vast majority of fans construe nothing said as nothing happening. People take leave of their common sense at this time of year, as we found out in the referendum.

This is pretty much where I'm at too. The "players want an extra 2k a week" thing is because we have a history of getting mugged off, they know we will pay it. If Northampton waht to pay Revell what he wants, good luck to them.

It is frustrating missing out on players of course, but I absolutely agree that we shouldn't pay more than CW thinks they are worth. Especially on the likes of Revell whos resale value would be just South of Fuck All.

To be fair ...... there are some players that you would probably stretch a little bit for because they fit the "master plan" and have the right attributes .....

Revell wasn't one of those, imho

Agreed. Promises is the wrong word really. We've been on the transfer bladecoaster for years now. It's just similar language regarding difficulties in signing players from a new manager. We know what's happened with previous managers. Just sounds worryingly familiar is all.

Yes, I understand the frustration and cynicism. I didn't want Tufty as manager and was vocal against his appointment. I might yet be right but I now firmly disagree with myself. What I've seen and heard from CW is nothing but sense, purpose and drive. For those reasons I've no doubt we will see real changes for the better and it won't be "same old" this time...

Addendum: However, I reserve the right to say "I told me so"...

I'm not sure you're playing by forum rules here Pinchers. Once you have an opinion, you need to cling onto it with increasing belligerence. If necessary wheel out some sophistry and diversion, and if all else fails, indulge in some good old fashioned Stalinist revisionism.

Poor show.

Sorry JD. I really don't know what's come over me. I've even found myself rethinking my opinion of Blackwell. As you probably know I advocated tar and feathers for a long time. I'm now edging towards the Brazen Bull.

Nooooooooo! Sorry, I won't have it. I want the old Pinchy back (avatar and all). So much change and uncertainty in one week. No wonder the FTSE is down.
