The thing with Adkins is that he talked all that shit to the players too.

What a genius.
He might not have done,

He might have just left it to the excellent, top class coaches who do a lot of hard work behind the scenes, so that the honest, hardworking players can have the endeavour to perform and wins games of football at this football club.

Alternatively, we good switch to cloughisms,

"It was McNulty's fault".

Clough was absolutely right to expect more from said McNulty. He was/is a lazy fucker with an appalling first touch. Clough might be vulnerable to criticism on certain issues but let's not pretend he was some sort of entirely useless article like SemiPro. In particular he was bang on about McNulty and De Juve.

Has he said that? Might change a few views on here??. Hope so...

By Pele, Tufty is really beginning to impress me. I think I owe him an apology for not welcoming him earlier (not that he has the slightest concern or even idea about that!). Welcome Chris. You've made a great impression. Let's take this to the pitch in August and onwards...:)
This is something I love. For too long we've had midfielders at either end of a spectrum. He's bang on with this.

And zero bullshit.

McGahey
JCR
Scougall
McEveley
J. Wallace
Coutts
Alcock
Higdon
Davies

Obviously spot on about those too.

BUT
They've all talked the talk down the years....
Oh aye, there's a lot to be done.

But in axing half the squad he's started well. Replacements have started coming early. And we are definitely at a stage where lots of straight talking is needed, and he's delivering there.

Good start, that's all.

No curse at BDTBL. We need to be together as there's nothing stopping us doing it.

Plenty of bumps on the road and criticism but that's what happens. The plus points are when we get it rocking and in the right direction.

Staton says he suspects we'll get what we want in the next few days on the pitch.

That last statement Rod from Staton, did he mean with regards to incoming players in the next few days? I didn't hear that

I did say he was vulnerable on certain issues. I dare say if Wilder had been the one taking straight and taking no nonsense about McN and Diego it would have met with universal approval. Should it really depend on whether you like the manager or not?

In my very humble view, Nigel was right in those two cases and is the second best ever manager named Clough...

Welcome Kane and Vardy to BL.

In other news Barney gets his season ticket ;)
Funny thing is it's not a case of setting the standard too high. We'll see about the signing of Duffy and Hussey, all I'll say is I said the same about Hammond when he signed, while most others were firmly up his backside.

My standards are in line with the standards a promotion chasing club should share. No more, no less. There are so many bloody good young players to go at. Look at Wigan, they managed it with an absolute amateur at the helm. It's really not rocket science.

We just seem intent on making it as hard as possible for the sake of it.

He also spotted that defender , he shipped out to Donnie ( who's name escapes me at the mo ) ,
and was universally derided for doing same , as according to some on here he was a world beater ,
however Pinchy I'd give , chuppa chump one more go , but Mr Juve , no ta mate .

It's easy, as the man says it's all about team work -

United we stand devided we fall
and if our backs should ever be against the wall
we'll be together forever you and I.....

I agree with that, mate. It's funny isn't it, how the vast majority of fans will take the player's side in any conflict with the manager, particularly if the player is popular and the manager not. Just by way of example (and in relation to a player I do like) the suntan nonsense came from Harry and his agent to up the ante on the Hull transfer, not from Nigel Clough.

Brayford and Hussey best fullbacks in division.

Brayford is a big player and should be playing at a higher level.

Wants to get Brayford back to his level while on loan.

Good players can drive a game from full back.

Didn't rule out Alex Baptiste.

Need to be compact and defend properly.

Need to be competent with and without the ball.

Getting players in for pre season a few days early.

Got a 'competitive' budget and can attract good players.

Got harmony at boardroom level.
People hear things in different ways but I interpreted it as he had ruled out Baptiste.
Nice to have the senior players at the club as quality players ie Sharp and Brayford and Basham to a certain extent.

I took it as a not likely but he didn't exactly point blank refute it like he did with the tafazolli rumour. I'd doubt he'd be someone wilder would bring in anyway.

Could just be that he has a far more greater understanding of the game than you at er hm, all levels, Including sky high;). Stick with it kid you may learn a thing or two:D.

Completely how I heard that too. In a nutshell it felt like he meant "he may well have done well here last year, but I'm looking elsewhere thanks"

Mark Duffy, Chris Hussey?

I suppose we all have different expectations.

Where's that list of players you posted you wanted bringing in, that would make you buy a season ticket..?

Has it changed much?

Including the notions that we need a tall mobile striker and that 'defensive midfielder' is a contradiction in terms and a load of bollocks. Odd that I've been saying both those things for years, to much derision on here, without consulting Tufty or anyone else.

However much it hurts people will come to realise (probably long after I'm gone - true greatness is often not recognised at the time) that I know what I'm talking about...

Ladies and Gentlemen may I introduce David Icke.

I'm not sure people have derided you for saying that. I think most are in agreement.

Separately, there are scenarios when the makeup of your team demands that you need more defensively minded players. That's where the arguments start.

Given a clean slate, I doubt there are many who wouldn't want a midfield based on players who can do a bit of everything. The problem lies in finding, and funding them.
