Wilder has probably watched us enough over the years and he's decided in the main that he wants (hasn't transfer listed) some players so can't we give some of them a clean slate now. Long, Brayford, McNulty and scougall Spring to mind and they have threads to match.

Our last two seasons have been absolutely car crashes under both clough and Adkins, but let's cut some slack and give them a clean slate.

We gonna have our own Truth and Reconcilliation moment ?

Grrrrrrrr

He's mentioned Scougall and McNulty in a few interviews now. Also, a fit Brayford would walk into any L1 side and many championship ones

Long will be ok if he stays, it doesn't exactly breed confidence when you've spent a full season with the shittest back four in decades, hopefully that will be rectified now that the worst offenders have gone.

I'm reserving judgement on Brayford.

Scougall has his plus points, he's attack-minded and very tricky to defend against on a good day.

I don't want McCuntly anywhere near this club.

It is a worry for me if Scougal is in the plans.

A player that small needs to be really really good to make it, same for Reed, trying to play Profesional football in the modern era with a school boy physique is tough.

He's a reasonable prospect and cover for Billy. It's his off pitch entourage and partying that appears to give him a big bollocks attitude. Bit to Baxteresk, if he could realise he could have a good footballing career and clean his act up he would be an asset.

My prediction, he'll blow it

Actually think it was a sign of arrogance from Adkins that he thought he was such a superior manager to Clough that he could take these players to the next level.

And yet the lone voice after Gillingham away started a thread Arrogant Adkins and alluded to this very point and was slated all season ;-)

Completely agree Sheffielder

Long, while prone to the odd flap and and not completely confident coming for the ball is still an OK keeper thanks to some fantastic reactions - something near impossible to teach. He won't get better unless he plays and if people truly want young assets that will improve then you have to accept them not always being the finished article.

Brayford improved the team when he returned last year. With a full pre-season and hopefully better characters around him we will see the old Brayford.

Scougall looked fantastic when he first joined. I think gradually Clough eroded his confidence due to his defensive and rigid style and Adkins played him on the wing. If Wilder can restore him to the player he was then brilliant.

Say what you want about lollipops, ibiza and entourages: McNulty is a goal scorer and perfect backup for Billy. If Wilder thinks he has an attitude problem then he'll be our the door I'm sure.

Was it WHF ?

Agree totally. A fit and focused Brayford is easily a decent standard Championship player.

Think its clear Wilder knows who he wants in and knows who he wants out. The released list and transferred players list says everything you need to know. If he thinks Scoogs and McNulty are players he wants then great. Give the bloke a chance because with the right players around them they have the potential.

All could play their part in the squad. Long and Brayford are among our better players. Scougall and Mcnulty are decent squad players if their attitude is right.

The thing that gets me though is that people say Scougall, McNulty, Done etc. should all play and then blame the manager for not playing them in their preferred position.

There's no way to accommodate those 3 and Sharp in such a way that you're getting the best out of them. Scougall, Done and McNulty along with the likes of DCL, Reed, Whiteman, Kelly, Ramsdale etc. could give us a decent bench though if we can get the first 11 right.

It's a worry for me too. What would be his role, where is he actually effective?

As a central midfielder, he doesn't score goals or rack up assists, so he's not exactly a creative one. He's not the type that's sitting in-front of the back four and dictating play because he's not good enough on the ball. He's not capable of putting himself and being the primary ball-winner in there either. When Adkins deployed him a winger, he looked very much out of his depth too.

His best spell for us when played at the side of Coady with Doyle behind them. Thanks to Doyle, he was given more of a free role and less responsibility to run about - probably his best trait, sadly. How we could do with a younger, technically better version of Doyle in the side.

Be nice to see Wilder to find a role and make a player of wee Scougs but it's more hope than expectation.

I like McNulty and Scougall on the pitch. It's off the pitch I worry about them.

And the fact Scougall can play absolutely nowhere other than behind the striker.

Reckon the onus is on certain players to earn clean slates.

No doubt if they come out with the sort of fire in the belly & never-say-die attitude that Wilder seems to expect then they'll get warmly supported. But the proof's in the pudding...

I was adamant Long would not be playing much for us last season and he started at Gillingham unbelievably. I will be very disappointed if we're going with Long as our first choice again this season.

You have to remember there are no short term loans allowed now. So we need squad players to combat this.

If he's good enough he will play , if he's not he will be on the bench. Don't see why people get so "worried" if he's the worst player on the pitch two games running I can bet he won't play the third.

We have to go with a squad and only the best players will obviously start.
