Member #13 - Leon Brittan. Dead.

That's a bit macabre to prop him up like that with a smile on his face when he's dead. Most folk just put dead people in coffins.

Used to catch the same bus to Chesterfield (via Dronfield) as me when I finished work. He would sit with Chesterfield based SUFC Academy players. Nicky had curly hair then. A year or two years earlier Kevan Hurst was in the same bus home as me too

In hindsight passing on Brittan was probably a wise move.

I see we're still struggling for central defenders :)

I was wrong: there is a less creative central midfield than our current one: Law-Monty-Britton.

Does anyone know the way? Did we hear someone say?
We just haven't got a clue what to do!
Does anyone know the way? There's got to be a way
To Bug-Busters!!!

Name that tune....

Sideways pass from Law to Britton to Monty then a bad first touch from Monty meaning that the next touch for him will be a 20:80 tackle. Repeat 50 times per game!

Be fair, occasionally the ball will come to a dead stop at his feet whereupon he will hit a simple fifteen yard pass fifty yards into touch.

Blockbuster by Sweet. First single I ever bought Highfield. Still had some brass, so went back and bought Cum on feel the noize by Slade.

If we’re looking for a current 1-11 of players who were deemed surplus to requirements, let go, deemed not good enough or cast aside from the lane for whatever reason (not those we cashed in on because “we couldn’t stand in their way”) I would go for something like

-----------------------Bunn*

Francis-------Butler------Bartley*----Mattock

----------------Britton------Leigertwood

Dyer------------------Holt----------------Ward

------------------------Sharp**

Subs from:

Ikeme*

McCarthy*

Lowry*

Doyle

McLeod*

Forte

Porter

Miller

Taylor

Brandy

Yeaters

Reid

Treacy

Nade

O Halloran

B. Clarke

*- Player was only on loan with us but we never seemed to express a wish to make it permanent.

**- Admittedly we have Sharp back but only after twice discarding him.

How do we think that squad would compare to our current one?

Member #16 - Nathan Dyer. Not good enough for us to take up our option to buy; good enough to win the Premier League title

I really liked what I saw of the reformed hand bag thief. He was restricted to a pathetic amount of game time then played and scored in one of his last games before being sent packing. A Blackwell error for sure.

Look how bendy his leg is, that's quite something.

I bumped into Mikaele Leigertwood t'other day – he's coaching at Hungerford Town, a tiny club just near me who have just won promotion to the National League South, a fantastic achievement on crowds of barely 100. They finished fourth in the Southern League Premier but went up after beating Hitchin and Leamington in the playoffs. The reason I mention this, apart from the Leigertwood connection, is that the playoff final, in which they came from behind to beat Leamington 2-1 in the middle of a hurricane, gave me more pleasure and excitement than all the games at Bramall Lane this season put together.

Probably should have said the Ginger Black Panthers.....
